kpholmes
Reported by PFT While I think Weis is a joke of a head coach, he's a great O-Coordinator. Good things for Cassel, Charles, Bowe & Co. IMO.

CaptainHook
Just Pollian bringing in who he can from the Belichik tree. I think you mean Scott Pioli. Polian is GM of the Colts. Good hire, IMO.

Rovers
not saying it is a bad hire...just an odd one This tells me there is hope in KC. Not because of Weiss, who IS a good hire, but Haley understanding that he is a HC now. Even Rex Ryan brought his right hand man with him to NY. HC's should not make the mistake of thinking they don't need quality coordinators, regardless of their person experince and background. It also tells me Haley is a confident guy. There may be life after Herm in KC after all. Now, does Weiss try to talk Haley into drafting Clausen?

muck
This says either: 1) Haley is confident in his role as HC to hire a high profile guy like Weis. or 2) Haley is not in control of the staffing decisions and Pioli just hired Haley's replacement if another bad season goes on the books in 2010. If it is number two, why wait? I think this was both Haley and Pioli bringing in a guy they both trust. If the KC team has another bad year, what would make Weiss a good candidate? They would share in the failure. Now, if they draft Clausen, I'd call Haley a marked man. That won't happen, it's no secret that KC has one of the worst Olines in the NFL. Haley can forget about the offense with Wiess there, and work on the D.
Jackass
No way can they do that with the investment they made in Cassel, can they? They could always trade Cassel to Denver
Hat Trick
not saying it is a bad hire...just an odd one I'm not quite sure why you feel this way? Is it because Haley is an offensive mind? Haley is realizing he needs coordinators to run the different sides of the ball while he steps back and actually COACHES the team. I think this is a great hire. I actually hoped Notre Dame would not bring him back in hopes he would come here. I did NOT think it would actually happen though. I am pretty happy about it though. It can only get better from here honestly. I am in the same line of thinking as muck...draft every fat guy they can. They need young, hungry guys on both lines. They have a ton of money to spend and they will look to FA to get some help this year. I think Haley and Pioli didn't spend a lot this last year because they wanted to see what they had, what they needed and who was going to fit the team concept they are implementing going forward. Dutch Oven
Haley can forget about the offense with Wiess there, and work on the D. Rumor is that Crenell is going to become the DC. Haley can concentrate on being a HC, which is what he should do.

Schefter mentioned this last night. Pioli, Cassel, Weis, Crennel, Vrabel (if he's still there).... Definitely trying to re-allign all of the pieces that were in place in New England. While the team's talent might not be the same, they will definitely be competitive under that regime IMO.
j2v
Interesting article in today's KC paper that touches on some of the concerns addressed here. It's by Jason Witlock, which may instantly discredit it in the minds of some. The gist is that you have two big egos, both of whom think they know how to run an offense, and the potential for friction is great. Ultimately, what I (and I'm guessing most of you) want to know is this: what does it mean for Jamaal Charles and his role in the offense. 2V

It's by Jason Witlock, which may instantly discredit it in the minds of some. The gist is that you have two big egos, both of whom think they know how to run an offense, and the potential for friction is great. I guess that is why I thought it was more likely that Weis would end up at Chicago. He could basically be the head coach of the offense and Lovie would be responsible for the D. It'll be interesting to see how Haley does as HC while they run someone else's offense (or will Weiss run Haley's?).

I thought the first comment on PFT's post for this was pretty funny: "Hiring Weis and Crennel is just want the KC restaurant businesses needed during this recession."
