Time to Press for NFL Sunday Ticket?

Didn't pay for the ticket this season, been using a borrowed online account to watch games on the tablet. However if DirecTV is really going to black out FX and other Fox/Newscorp channels next week, I was thinking I might call to pitch a fit then demand Sunday Ticket for free the rest of the season for the inconvenience caused.

Anyone else thought about, or tried this yet?

I'll drop 'em in a heartbeat if they don't work this out though. I won't live without Fox Sports Net as a Sun Devil fan.

I have liked DirecTV over the years, but they have been pissing me off lately. Every Sunday night football game has those annoying half second glitches every 5 or 10 minutes. The local channels get crappy during storms. They are the ONLY service provider in my area that doesn't include NFL Red Zone in a package. Every time I call it is the same freaking crap: "Reset your receiver, is it working now? We can send a technician out, but we have to charge you, unless you buy the service protection plan." If I'm calling you, rest assured, I have reset everything at least 3 times and checked all the connections twice. I've been using this china-made junk of yours for 10 years now.

This company used to work hard to take care of its customers, but now seems no better than any of the conglomerate phone companies. Good customer service seems to exist only in legend these days.

I like the idea of squeezing them over the Fox Sports Net thing...

This isn't a Directv fail, it's the result of business negotiations over huge profits. Neither side is in the wrong. Fox had these same problems with nearly every other provider that's had rights expire recently - they want more of the pie or they will take their ball and go home. There's too much money at stake for either side to blink.

True, but in the end if they are not providing what they once did and the signal AS WELL AS their customer service is crap then it is time to move on is it not?

I agree that both sides have every right to try to make more money. What I object to are the commercials both sides have aired that claim they're only doing this for us, the consumers, because they care about us so much that they have no choice but to take a stand against the other side. Total BS.

And Suns, and Dbacks. I'm gonna drop em like a bad habit when the NFL season is over.

Lol - I called and threatened to leave before the season started and ended up getting the NFL Ticket heavily discounted, as well as a $20/month credit for the next 24 months. Regardless, I'm still probably gonna drop em as soon as the NFL playoff's start and I can watch them on regular cable..

Called and pitched a fit this morning, and tried to get NFL Sunday Ticket out of the agent, but they weren't biting. The best the first line of defense customer service agent would offer me was $215 for the rest of the season (which is more per week for the remaining weeks than their full price per week for all 17) and a $5 a month discount for 3 months.

She did say that NFL Sunday Ticket discount option for the rest of the season will probably be announced in about 3 weeks, but you know it won't be very good even then.

At this point, nothing has been officially blacked out yet, so DirecTV has yet to really cause an inconvenience in my programming. But come Tuesday, if the channels in question are blacked out by DirecTV I'll be calling to ask for the retention department immediately.

If anyone else takes any shots at DirecTV over this, or is successful in landing the Ticket at no charge or a deep discount, post here!

Canceled the ticket this year and will cancel Direct TV altogether if they can't get things figured out with FX. Direct TV has a great product but they've continued to ratchet up prices every year. I'm sick of it.

After I canceled the ticket they called and offered to sign me back up for half the cost of this remaining year. Sounds great, except when I asked them to commit to no price increase next year they refused. Told 'em to go F*** themselves.
