Cowboyz1
You know I have been watching each game and something stands out to me, or rather doesn't stand out. That is Vickers. This guy was suppose to be a good lead blocker. I don't see it. He was suppose to have a mean streak and hit people. I don't see that either. In fact, most of the positive yardage Murray has gotten is in three wide receiver sets without him on the field. Looks like there was a reason Houston got rid of the guy. He misses more blocks then he makes and when he does hit a guy he doesn't get any movement. More often then not he looks like he is searching for a block to make and ends up doing nothing but clogging the hole. Last year's dude (fiammetta or something like that) was much better and far more aggressive in making blocks.
jetsfan
I still miss having Leach in Houston. The players here will willing to buck up and help with his salary. Having a top FB can do amazing things for a RB, and I agree, Vickers is not that guy. Edited October 4, 2012 by jetsfan
Furd
Nobody really needs a FB. Not even Leach is going to see 45% of his team's snaps and he's been the only guy to do that this century I think. Rice is carrying the ball, what, about 20 times per game? I bet you that on about half of those carries he doesn't have Leach as a lead blocker. Furd
He may not hit 40%: 36.6 -- percentage of offensive snaps in which All-Pro fullback Vonta Leach has been put out on the field this season. I wrote a trend piece about the decline of the fullback position before the start of the season, and Vonta Leach, widely regarded as the league’s best fullback, admitted that he is a dying breed. I just didn’t see him fading away so quickly. According to totals kept by the NFL, Leach has played just 104 of 284 offensive snaps this season, and he was used as a receiver about 40 percent of the time, according to Pro Football Focus. His play participation is down 15 percent from a year ago, though I expect that he will be more involved as winter nears. Still, it’s hard to argue with results right now as the Ravens have one of the top offenses in the NFL.
loaf
Vickers was a great lead blocker here and most folks were pissed when he was let go for some unknown rookie. We're still looking to replace him.
matt770
Man, I hate it when my fullback throws 5 picks.

Maybe its just the Cowboys in general that are not that good.

Maybe it just takes some time in a new scheme
