I've never had any problem just plugging in a flash drive and using it. If you know the brandname of the drive you might be able to download the software for it from their website. You could try just plugging it in and look under "My Computer" to see if a new drive shows up.

One thing I never understood was why couldn't netflix stream even the new releases? Once they had the physical dvd they could rent it out all they want as long as it was just one at a time. Why couldn't they do that with the streaming? Buy 100,000 "licenses" (or just buy the dvds and then have a bonfire in the parking lot after making a copy) burn a copy and make sure they only stream the amount of licenses they have on hand. Allow quarterly "audits" to keep themselves out of court and voila! Streaming new releases! They can currently keep track of what is being watched and where people left off so they should be able to keep track of licenses without too much of a hassle.

The brand is called Nature's Sleep. We got a 90 day return policy with free restocking fee if before 30 days ($100 after the 30 days). I love the bed so far. I'm bog ol' fatty and it conforms my body very well. Just a warning though, it will take at least 2 months to get really used to it. So see if the mattress store can bump up that "30 day satisfaction" thing to at least 60 days (90 days is obviously preferable). Ours also comes with the 20 year warranty. The sales man also threw in 2 Nature's Sleep pillows with the mattress. I love the pillow but my wife hates it. It's basically the mattress material in pillow form. Good luck!

I also contemplated doing this about a year or two ago as a side thing (I also do web dev work) and came to the realization that something this large would be one hell of an undertaking. It would have to be a full time gig for you. If you did it part time with all of the suggestions you're getting and options you want then this will take at a very minimum of a year (and I think more) and that's if you're reeeeally motivated. Things you have to consider are: Where would you get the data for live scoring? Will you be getting the Sunday ticket and watching all of the games and updating the data yourself manually or will you be paying for live data from say the AP (not sure of the cost but I'm sure it ain't cheap)? Scalability (if the site gets enough traffic) during game days? Even MFL and CBS still have this trouble and they've been around for quite some time. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that it's a hell of an undertaking unless you're really going to devote a ton of time to it. Good luck if you do decide to go with it.

Since you're not interested in cruises I will do a +1 on Matt's suggestion. FL is a great place to go and with the economy the way it is you could get some pretty good deals. One other place you could look into is Longboat Key. It's near Sarasota and has great beaches on the Gulf and is also near one of the nicest beaches I've ever seen (Siesta Beach).

Look into cruises in the Caribbean. I'm pretty sure there are several threads here about it but I'm lazy and don't feel like doing the search. About as leisurely as you're going to get. Most ports of call have beach related activities and if you don't feel like getting off the boat you can just chill by the pools. Just another option for you. But, as SEC stated about the place he suggested, don't forget to pack your wallet.
