i would definitely wait 6-12 months to let the bugs shake out and also for Apple to release the next gen of the machines. there's just too much that has changed to take the plunge right now.

 

re: the speed, it's the elegance of the operating system that Apple provides that enables the machine to run at top speed.

Amazing...all those years mac swore the mac was faster or at least as fast as PC's.

Now the mac basically IS a pc, and it's 4-5 times faster than a mac. :D

I just upgraded mine yesterday...

 

Asus A8N SLI Deluxe

2x512MB Geil Ultra PC3200 DDR CAS2 3-3-6 1T

AMD Athlon64 3700+ "San Deigo" w/1MB L2 Cache

MSI GeForce 6800GS 256MB DDR300 @ 1000mhz

OS Drive 10K RPM Raptor 74GB, 2 Data Drives, 160GB each both 7200rpm w/8MB Cache

Plextor 16X DVDRW w/8MB Cache SATA

Lian Li Aluminum Tower

Fortron 350W w/120mm Fan

 

It's decent.

Isn't it also interesting that Apple picked a processor (er...which processor is it?)that has only begun to be able to handle 64 bit programs while AMD has been way ahead of Intel in that regard as well?
