Look out deer hunters of sconny , walker is going after you next!! darn commies deer hunters .

I thought you were joking.

WI's deer czar!

As reported in

Lodi Valley News, Walker has hired Texan Dr. James Kroll to serve as Wisconsin’s “deer czar,” a position that gives Kroll considerable power over Wisconsin’s deer management policy. Kroll is an outspoken proponent of game farms, and an opponent of public lands and public game management, which he is on record as describing as “the last bastion of communism.”

The public lands Kroll despises include the state parks, state and national forests, and other publicly held property that hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites—particularly in the northern part of the state—rely on for deer hunting. Hunters on public land may be surprised to discover that Walker regards their annual trek into a state forest as a radical left wing activity akin to marching in a May Day parade in Red Square. But so it is.

If Kroll gets his way, public land hunters will get the shaft. The deer herd no longer would be managed as a public resource, but as the private property of wealthy landowners. Wisconsin will become like Europe, where hunting is the privilege of the wealthy.

When is going to hire Michelle Bachman as fish czar? Maybe if we transplant all the full on wingnuts into cheeze land the rest of America can build a wall around it.

Wow - sounds like you and Yukon running with a ZOMGGG moment. Sounds like BP who was ripping on Walker for selling govt building for pennies on the dollar - it never happened and when something big happens with this then come let us know.

I voted early today and thank you liberals for making me know now that voting for Walker is the right thing to do - anything the idiot Bushwacked is against I am for.

National parks are wildlife ghettos and and public land use is for Socialists!

..Kroll, who has been the foremost proponent of deer ranching in Texas for more than thirty years, doesn't mind the controversy and certainly doesn't fade in the heat. People who call for more public lands are "cocktail conservationists," he says, who are really pining for socialism. He calls national parks "wildlife ghettos" and flatly accuses the government of gross mismanagement. He argues that his relatively tiny acreage, marked by eight-foot fences and posted signs warning off would-be poachers, is a better model for keeping what's natural natural while making money off the land...

It's funny because it isn't my state.

Why do you seem to care so much then? It is because like trying to push buttons and piss people off - I have said it before that if you get enjoyment out of that you seriously have issues.

I wouldn't take the bait anymore, gb.

Some Nigerian hacker got her account info and sent a donation to Scott Walker in exchange for a green card for he and his family to come over and stay with his uncle who took up residence in WI.

Well, this certainly changes my vote! I can't vote for Walker if he is in cahoots with Nigerian scammers!

Yer not very smart.

He specifically gave himself unlimited power to sell state assets without oversight. That is a fact and not in dispute. Long live the party of small gubbment that grants himself the ability to sell state assets without oversight!!

i didn't understand what the post meant either. Apparently Kroll being hired by the DOA to revise deer management is something that gbfan doesn't think is actually true, or he just isn't very good at the innernets.

It was referring to how walker put a provision in the union busting bill that removes an oversight board and grants the gubner with sole authority to sell state assets. There is a concern that walker will sell assets to his billionaire buddies

But c'mon! He is only in year one of a four year term! He has plenty of time to sell out the state!

Just to clarify, what's the outrage here? Are we mad that he has sold WI out or that he hasn't but "we just know he will"?

The point is he hasn't done it. It is more of scare tactics and lies. You think Walker is some evil guy and claiming that he will sell state assets for next to nothing to his buddies is just trying to find reasons to scream EVIL. If he does sell some state assets for next to nothing then feel free to spout off.

Have you heard of ANY state assets he has sold??? You are close to being as bad as Bushwacked trying to find things to scream how bad he is.

Funny how you guys seem to not think it is a big deal that Barrett skipped out on memorializing officers killed on the job. You both are pathetic.

Without reading more than the first paragraph I expect an entirely biased and probably less than factual story (so I stopped)

"I was wandering, as I am wont to do these days, because I am an elderly blogger who has no life, through the various news from Wisconsin, where many people are seeking to rid themselves of Scott Walker, the goggle-eyed homunculus hired by Koch Industries to manage their midwest subsidiary formerly known as, well, the state of Wisconsin."

Talk about rhetoric, and this is the kind of nonsense that some people feel is a sort of smoking gun that shows how evil Walker is?

I don't give a crap about Barrett or walker campaigning out of state. They both do it, and I stated that quite definitively.

I am sure that granting a gubner that has shown no respect for the concerns of the minority unlimited power to sell state assets without oversight is somehow really good for Wisconsin

I will just use your mantra of "give him time! He is only in year one of a four year term!".

All I can find about Walker's ability to sell public properties is a segment in the Budget Repair Bill that states this:

16.896
Sale or contractual operation of state−owned heating, cooling, and power plants. (1) Notwithstanding ss. 13.48 (14) (am) and 16.705 (1), the department may sell any state−owned heating, cooling, and power plant or may contract with a private entity for the operation of any such plant,
with or without solicitation of bids, for any amount that the department determines to be in the best interest of the state.
Notwithstanding ss. 196.49 and 196.80, no approval or certification of the public service commission is necessary for a public utility to purchase, or contract for the operation of, such a plant, and
any such purchase is considered to be in the public interest and to comply with the criteria for certification of a project under s. 196.49 (3) (
B)
.

No bid contracts are not a good thing and many govt. agencies and politicians use them for payback at times. But, in reading some analysis on what this bill affects, I found this (I have excerpted from the article):

Under the budget-repair bill passed by the Assembly on Friday, no bids would be required for the state to sell up to 37 heating and cooling plants across the state.

The bill would empower the secretary of the state Department of Administration to sell the plants, which primarily serve University of Wisconsin campuses, including those in Madison and Milwaukee, as well as state prisons and other facilities.

"The idea was to begin the process to move forward and see if selling the heating plants would be saving taxpayers money," Werwie said.

The Legislature's Joint Finance Committee left the no-bid language in the bill, though it added a requirement that the Republican-controlled committee would have to sign off on the deal.

"They'd be lucky to get one bid," said Charlie Higley, executive director of the Citizens' Utility Board, a utility customer group. "But the governor's policy is still wrong. No bid is not good."

Higley said he believes the state would be hard-pressed to find a lower-cost option than running the plants itself, because its borrowing costs are lower than a private company's, and it doesn't need to earn a profit on its investment.

"Any private company is going to want to earn a return on that investment, and the only way they would end up doing that is to charge higher prices for the steam or the electricity, and that means higher costs for Wisconsin," Higley said.

David Benforado said he was glad there will be Joint Finance Committee review of any plant sales, but said that based on his experience running Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin, there may not be much value in the plants.

"These plants are probably all fully depreciated plants, and that's not the time to sell," he said.

It's difficult to tell what kind of price they could fetch, particularly because of environmental liabilities. Several of the old coal plants are in potential violation of the Clean Air Act because they lack modern pollution controls, Plale said.

"A number of these plants have potential environmental liabilities hanging over their head. How that falls into the mix still needs to be addressed," Plale said.

Now, I could be very wrong, but I have seen no evidence that there was ANY bill signed that gives Walker the authority to ultimately sell ANY state held building or land solely under his own discretion. Am I wrong?

And, again, No, I don't approve of government having a policy of no bid contacts and think that he should be roundly criticized for introducing such a plan. But, is the above referenced bill what you guys are getting so worked about?

So, for those of us that aren't paying sufficient attention, when is the day of the Grand Recall Vote?

I think the second Tuesday in June

ETA - nope, June 5th.

Walker appoints an influential figure to the DOA who refers to hunting on public lands as "the last bastion of communism," and likens national parks to "wildlife ghettos," and you still need to defend that?

Let's see here.

1st you guys scream and yell and whine that collective bargaining rights are going to destroy the state - looks like it is working so you guys decided to shut up about it

2nd you guys scream and yell that teachers will get a 30% pay cut - that was proved to be inaccurrate so you guys have shut up about it

3rd you guys scream and yell that he lost jobs and is worst in the nation - new numbers come out that seem to be more accurate that show job gains and you shut up about it - nobody has yet to show these new numbers are false

4th one guy screams about selling states assets with no oversight which has yet to happen and I sure hope he eventually shuts up

5th you are now resorting to screaming and yelling about what some guy might or could do in wisconsin about deer hunting.

Most importantly the left has started this recall fight that is costing this state money and jobs and at first claimed it was about the kids and collective bargaining and now all you see are ads about not being fair to women.

you seriously don't see how pathetic you guys look and maybe why the independent voter in Wisconsin is sick of the lefty whining and why teachers have lost respect in this state????

I sure as hell hope my office environment is like the rest of the state - we had two employees vote in the primary - one voted for Walker and one voted for Barrett. for June 5th we now have 8 voting for Walker and one for Barrett. That has the turnout for Walker 8 times what the primary was - shows that the conservative people are fed up and motivated. I sure hope that is the scene across the state and that 8 times can offset the lefty vans of bussing in the homeless.

Walker flubbed a question on his new jobs numbers Monday.

  • He was asked how many of the new jobs he claims to have discovered were created in Milwaukee -- an area he has focused on in his attacks on Barrett.

  • Walker admitted he did not know.

  • His aides eventually acknowledged that the new figures weren't broken down by city or county. So no one knows where they came from.

  • That's how sketchy the figures are.

  • Problem: They have not been reviewed, calculated OR verified by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) folks who analyze job increases/losses.

No-one, outside the hardcore Walkermessiah core, is taking the "jobs I only know about" numbers conveinitly made up a week ago as a proper metric. The proper one, would be the the same BLS numbers every other state has been using for decades upon decades. Naivety exemplified.

So this isn't about Collective Bargaining anymore? It's about deer herds?

Now I'm just OUTRAGED again! Stupid Walker. I'd like to thank the two butts (buttwhacked and buttwallace49) for bringing this important detail to our attention. Way to keep us informed!

I simply can't wait for the next outrage to get outraged about.
