Beaumont
Vikings | O. Smith will not be reinstated? Tue, 25 Apr 2006 18:20:13 -0700 Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports according to a source close to Minnesota Vikings RB Onterrio Smith, the Vikings running back will not be reinstated by the NFL next month. Smith was suspended by the NFL last May. The Vikings and the NFL declined comment. "That falls under the confidentiality provisions of the program," league spokesman Greg Aiello said. "His status is unchanged in that he continues to be under suspension." The Vikings weren't counting on Smith, but owner Zygi Wilf said earlier this month that the team was open to giving the running back a chance to return. The Vikings could address the position in this weekend's NFL Draft.
Big Score 1
"The Commissioner, in his sole discretion, will determine if and when the player will be allowed to return to the NFL," the policy states. "A player's failure to adhere to his Treatment Plan during his banishment will be a significant consideration in the Commissioner's decision of whether to reinstate a player." Am I missing something or am I just plain stupid?

Randall
According to te story- if he stopped getting treatmet he may be able to re-apply. "According to NFL policy, "a player suspended under Stage Three (of the substance abuse policy) may apply formally in writing for reinstatement no sooner than 60 days before his one-year anniversary date of the letter so suspending him." The application should include information on the player's treatment, abstinence from substances, involvement with any substances of abuse-related incidents, and arrests and/ or convictions for any criminal activity. "The Commissioner, in his sole discretion, will determine if and when the player will be allowed to return to the NFL," the policy states. "A player's failure to adhere to his Treatment Plan during his banishment will be a significant consideration in the Commissioner's decision of whether to reinstate a player." The story just says he won't be re-instated next month. Edited April 26, 2006 by Randall

Crazysight
Tags is sure coming down on the pot heads. This is one reason why I'm glad the crooked old fatherless male is finally leaving. He's such a moral crusader when it's not affecting his ratings/bank account. He's never had a problem benefitting from the use of blatant paid friends like Britney Spears to drum up business though. It took the FCC to get him to finally tone that bullAthena down.
