Furd
Royal Oak = hipstersBirmingham = rich 1272991 I guess that would make me a rich hipster. I've been called worse.
Chavez
There's always Lansing, it's only a little over an hour away. I'll even buy you a beer. 1271618 Lansing is Detroit without the tourist attractions.
RWings
If you want to stay in luxury, I suggest the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester. I'm part of the team in my firm that did the site plan for it a couple years back. During the summer it has two bocce ball courts and a putting green. Plus, there's also covered parking in the structure, handy for those snowy winter mornings. What about your limousine you say? Not to worry, there is parking available to accommodate a stretch limousine. Downtown Rochester is a cutesy little upscale area with plenty of shopping and dining. Uppity out of towners will also enjoy downtown Royal Oak and Birmingham. 1272820 I can vouch for both Rochester (since I live there) and the Royal Park (since I've been there). Very nice place to stay, but it's a decent haul down Rochester Road and I-75 to Ford Field. But, you'll deal with traffic no matter where you come from. I would avoid Windsor, though, because traffic will be horrible.
policyvote
Lansing is Detroit without the tourist attractions. 1274290 Oh c'mon, it's not even close. Mainly because the downtown is so small that the nice suburbs are that much closer. Peace policy
