I am going to the Superbowl and would like to come home alive...does anyone have a suggestion for where to stay in Detroit?  Somewhere reasonably close to the festivities would be ideal

Nightl Clubs?  Strip clubs?

GO HAWKS BABY!  :D

I had two rooms in Windsor Ontario (1 mile tunnel separates Windsor and Detroit). The Ramada website has my reservation, but the hotel has no record of it. I am fighting with them now (I booked in Feb 2005 for about $170 CAD a night). Not much use for the room now, even if I win my battle, seeing that the Pats lost.

Canadian strib clubs are always better than US, so I am sure Windsor is a good place to go, as long as you don't have any outstanding warrants and aren't illegal or anything.

Windsor is a good call. The bar district is fun there, as well as the "other" entertainment. The Casino Windsor is nice too. There are three casinos in the city of Detroit: Greektown Casino, MGM, and Motor City. I've only been to Greektown and MGM. I prefered Greektown, but MGM was nice too.

Most of the burbs are very nice... but the traffic won't be fun. If you can get a room in Windsor, that's probably the best option. There's always Lansing, it's only a little over an hour away. I'll even buy you a beer.

As a former Michigan homer, you can always stay in the burbs. Some of the towns within 30 minutes or so that might be OK are Rochester, Sterling Heights, Novi, Northville, Clinton Township, Troy, Farmington Hills, etc. Pretty much any hotel in these plays will be safe. What cities did I miss?

Jason's used to THE place in Windsor for nekkedness. Anybody else know if the talent is still solid there? It's been about 10 years since I lived in Michigan, so I would want someone to second my opinion before proceeding.

If you want to stay in luxury, I suggest the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester. I'm part of the team in my firm that did the site plan for it a couple years back. During the summer it has two bocce ball courts and a putting green. Plus, there's also covered parking in the structure, handy for those snowy winter mornings. What about your limousine you say? Not to worry, there is parking available to accommodate a stretch limousine. Downtown Rochester is a cutesy little upscale area with plenty of shopping and dining. Uppity out of towners will also enjoy downtown Royal Oak and Birmingham.

Here's a real honest answer. If you don't have a room remotely close it's too late. We have a guy coming in from Europe for work that week and he has to stay with one of our executives as there is actually zero rooms available to the general public.

Yeah, I'm replying to myself.

If I win my battle with Ramada, I will have 2 rooms for under $170 CAD that I do not need (Fri - Mon). I book a year in advance each year and then cancel if the Pats don't make it - you can always sneak in a reservation on 1 or 2 hotels that haven't blocked out the weekend yet.

I have no idea if the rooms are transferable, but I'd be willing to hook up a fellow Huddler for the right price :D

The problem with getting a room in Windor is the traffic across the bridge or tunnell. I have to imagine that it's going to be hell commuting there and back each day. Not to mention there will be Zero traffic downtown during SB week except for Taxi's, shuttle buses, etc... but that's would be a good option also.

Just preplan ahead on your traveling into the city so you minimize your commute time.
