Chavez Posted June 21, 2006 Share Posted June 21, 2006 Clerks - great Mallrats - less clever, but had some moments Chasing Amy - not great. Had only a few moments that were funny. Dogma - great Jay & Bob Strike Back - better than Chasing Amy, but not great. I liked Clerks as much as the next guy; I liked Mallrats a bit better - I'll agree it's a bit less clever but the massive upgrade in production value and acting was the clincher for me. Chasing Amy was tremendous. Smith's near-Lucas-level tin ear for dialogue makes some of the exposition unwieldy, but Joey Lauren Adams' performance was terrific, and made CA into what I think may be Smith's only film to approach greatness. Dogma I liked, but I think it's ambition exceeded Smith's ability - not that I have a problem with that at all. A for effort, B- for execution. The funny part about that scene was right after he said that line he looks at Silent Bob and says "Eww you Phuckin Phaggot i hate guys, I love woman!!!"
