Bushey
Are the Browns part of the NFL? What would happen if the Browns played the Raiders? All good questions, but I can say freely that my pick of Droughns instead of Gore will cost me the season. 27 yards against the Saints. I had him getting at least 100 yards and a touch. They even pulled him in favor of someone named Vickers..... Anyway, the Browns are going to get killed this week by 30 points. I am sure that the team will abandon the run and have Charlie Frye throw several ints. My prediction for Drougns: 11 carries for -11 yards. The funny thing is, almost all the FF sites have Drougns as undroppable. I can't even drop this turd.
Roo
Even though I think Gore will come back to Earth, I've been asking myself the same question. I drafted him thinking, ok I can live with 8-16 points per week for my #3 RB - CRAP.

I must be naive to think that an NFL team have some quality depth. Is this more of a play calling thing, or what...This was a close game and Droughns only had a hand full of carries. What will they do if they are playing 3 TDs down? We will find out against the Bengals. This game will be an absolute slaughter.

junebugz
Somewhere in my top ten rules of FF is this ... "Do not draft any Cleveland players". That rule pays for itself 99% of the time.
Vet
First of all, relax. Take a deep breath. Bring yourself back to reality. OK....good. It's September 14th - we've seen one week of football. When all is said and done, Frank Gore will end up putting up Kevan Barlow-type numbers in San Francisco (3.3 YPC) and Rueben Droughns will end up putting up Rueben Droughns-type numbers in Cleveland (4.0 YPC). If you drink, go have a drink and relax. If you don't drink, start. Or smoke a doob. Relax. Edited September 14, 2006 by Vet

While I agree that the OP is over reacting and Droughns will have a decent year, there is absolutely no way on earth that Droughns averages more yards per carry than Gore. None. Gore is much much more talented than Droughns. If you would like to make a bet on this I would be grlad to oblige. How about $50 paypal. Word of honor, pay at the end of the season. Both backs need 150 carries to qualify. Bet?
Balzac
why did I take KJones over Chester Taylor? I still think KJ will be the better option when all is said and done. It'll take a few weeks for that DET offense to get clicking, but I think he'll be quite good once they do (and they aren't playing Ds like SEA and CHI every week). I personally think that Taylor is destined to get hurt - he hasn't been super durable in the past and he's touching the ball about 300-400% more now. I just think that at this point in the season, there is no reason to question the decision to pick Droughns over Gore. It makes no difference who is more talented - I agree, if I was starting a team from scratch, I'd probably take Gore. But I don't believe the evidence is in at this point to prove that SF's OL has improved enough that Gore will post significantly better numbers than Barlow did last year. I think Cleveland will be a better running team than SF. Put Gore on Cleveland and Droughns on SF, and I'd take Gore. Plus, I don't believe that you even have $50 to pay me when you lose. If you do, I'll take the bet. Send me the $50 now and I'll send you $100 at the end of the year if Gore averages more YPC than Droughns. Sugar Magnolia
Well, I drafted Gore over Droughns in all four of my leagues but..... I drafted Roy Williams in all four leagues.. don't draft Lions either! I also have Mr. Bledsoe in three leagues-ugh
Scourge
I waited until the 3rd round to draft a RB this year and ended up with Chester, then in 4 and 5 went with J. Jones and Gore. Drafted Peyton 6 overall and got Chad Johnson in the second round. Needless to say, I am a happy camper right now.
peepinmofo
why did I take KJones over Chester Taylor? Because this is the year that Kevin Jones takes over as a stud? Wait... that seems to be EVERY year....
Roo
Because this is the year that Kevin Jones takes over as a stud? Wait... that seems to be EVERY year.... Woh a fellow Bills fan? I thought I was the last one. Uh....hi. CBSSL is touting something about Droughns getting more carries and is a decent #2 RB (not worth a poop, I know). He's currently on my bench. I mean, sure things have to get better (hard not to) - 11 carries is bologna, and who knows if carry #14 would have been for 26 yards, and carry #19 is a 1 yd TD. I just don't want to play him this week - tough D and playing from behind...not good. Although now I am sure he will catch a dump pass and run 50 yards for a score. rattsass
I took Gore over Droughns. Mainly because I figured each had about equal downside, but Gore had far more upside. As for Gore ending up with Barlow numbers? Uh, in one game he already has 1/4 the production Barlow had in his best season. If you are holding your breath for a Gore "crash and burn" prepare to have a very purple face.
Chavez
I agree with ratsass on Gore's upside, but I also believe that when all is said and done Droughns will be fine by the end of the year.
