MikesVikes
Viking notes: Childress mimics Belichick by manipulating injury report Kevin Seifert, Star Tribune Last update: October 26, 2006 – 9:03 PM Let the games begin. Vikings coach Brad Belichick ... er, Childress ... launched an apparent round of gamesmanship Thursday as his team began preparing in earnest for Monday night's game against New England. Childress closed practice to reporters, doubled the size of his injury report and claimed that all eight players he listed missed a portion of practice. The moves were a clear attempt to mock the Patriots' similarly misleading approach to injury reports, as well as their tight restrictions on media access. New England coach Bill Belichick is well known for listing players as "questionable" even if they are absolutely certain to play or almost definitely ruled out. Childress also considers injury information to be a competitive disadvantage, but until Thursday he had maintained the integrity of injury reports. Of the Vikings' "injured" players, only receiver Marcus Robinson was not on the practice field Thursday. Robinson also is the only Viking who will miss Monday's game for health reasons; he was in Chicago during the morning hours to get a second opinion on a lower back injury that will sideline him until next month. The Patriots have 10 "questionable" players and three "probable" players on their injury report. Defensive end Richard Seymour (left elbow) appears to be one of the few who might actually miss the game; he practiced Wednesday wearing an elbow brace, but Belichick listed him as questionable, and the Patriots will not reveal the nature of his injury. Meanwhile, Childress got around the NFL's rules for mandatory practice access by changing the "open" time to a special-teams-only period. Even Childress wasn't on the field for that portion of "practice." That move could have been a nod to Super Bowl XXXIX, when Belichick utilized closed practices to surprise the Philadelphia Eagles with a unique defensive alignment that included two lineman and three linebackers on the line of scrimmage. Childress was the Eagles' offensive coordinator then. The Patriots won that game 24-
MikesVikes
On another game note, Lawrence Maroney is handing out alot of "bulletin board" material but most of it is directed towards Mason and the Gophers team that he played on. First he was asked about the crowd noise while playing at the Metrodome and he said that he didn't hear any of that when he was playing there. Then he said that Mason has lots of talented players on his team and that he's not getting the most out of the talent. Escaping from a narrow win against North Dakota State at home will bring that on.
Savage Beatings
I really like Childress so far as the Vikings HC, but I can't stand it when these guys play these stupid-ass games with injury reports. I completely understand why they do it, but it seriously bugs me nonetheless.

Even when the Gophers do start filling in the seats, the people pretty much just sit there quiet because there's rarely enough positive action to get them riled up and screaming. And the Metrodome totally lacks the game atmosphere of other Big 10 stadiums like Camp Randall. Plus it's off campus, plus the University of Minnesota itself lacks real identity. Outshined
And the Metrodome totally lacks the game atmosphere of other Big 10 stadiums like Camp Randall. Plus it's off campus, plus the University of Minnesota itself lacks real identity. With the exception of Big Ten Hockey...IMO that is its identity. You have to go back 40-50 years for football. They did win a couple national champioships, but that was back before it was all about the education and not the money. Maybe the tradition will comeback to Minnesota with the new on campus stadium. On another note: Tom Brady is 9-0 in dome stadiums, 18-1 on artificial turf. I think the odds are on our side. You can't win em all.. Big John
With the exception of Big Ten Hockey... The Big Ten does not sponsor Hockey. There are separate conferences for NCAA hockey and Minnesota is in the WCHA for that.
