Bronco Billy
Link to Denver Post clip Just in time for Thanksgiving, it's open season on Jake Plummer. The whole town, it seems, is in an outrage. Listen to the radio, read the newspapers, skim through the blogs, and sentiment is growing, maybe even screaming, that Plummer should be replaced as Broncos quarterback with rookie Jay Cutler. "There have been people who have tried to run me out of here since I got here," Plummer said. "If I listened to that stuff, I wouldn't still be here leading this team. Hey, one day their wish will all come true. Until then, sorry." "There's a lot of starvation and people dying in the world, but I'm the most important topic in Denver," Plummer said. "It's sad." Link to Rocky Mountain News story Jake Plummer knows the score. Through all the criticism, deserved and not so during the past three-plus seasons, and the accompanying success and failures the Broncos quarterback has experienced, Plummer has not been blind to the buzz that constantly surrounds him. And coming off a wrenching division loss against the San Diego Chargers, he sums up public perception this way: "We suck. I suck. We all suck. Good luck. Happy Thanksgiving." While there has been scuttlebutt about unhappiness with Plummer's inconsistent play, including a couple of ESPN reports during the past month that Shanahan was close to benching him, the reality appears to be the quarterback might finally have hit make-or-break time. "Hey, I'm not an idiot. I've been in the league 10 years. I'm going to keep playing. That's how I've survived these things before is, you keep playing and playing hard." "If I go 0-for-20 and throw one pass that wins the game, hey, we got a 'W.' Say what you want," he said. "Write as many bad things you want about me. My mom loves me. My girlfriend loves me. My dogs adore me." Say What Willis?, Jake? My dog adores me? It's sad that people in DEN are passionate about their team when they ought to be worried about starvation in the world? Man, has this guy acquired a gigantic chip on his shoulder, when the only person Plummer has to blame is himself for his completely mediocre or worse play this season. Plummer has superior physical skills - he has a great arm, can put good touch on the ball, and can move the ball well with his legs also. Plummer's weakness in his game has always been from the neck up. His game mind just doesn't match his physical skills. That's okay, as long as it is recognized and planned around. But that being said, Plummer obviously has a "me against the world" mentality now in his head more than ever. If that's the case, he may end up being even more ineffective than previously this year. The guy is becoming unbalanced, and that has to effect his play on the field. If that is the case, we may actually see a switch to Cutler. If that does happen, Jake has no one to blame but himself. He's opened the door wide open with all this bulloh poopy that he's spreading this week.

Bronco Billy
So we are agreed then ... Mike Bell is not the only fix? Do you really feel such a great need to insert Mike Bell into almost every comment I make here regarding the Broncos? You feel the need to rake me about M Bell? Start an independent thread & I'll wheel out the stats and show everyone here what a horse's ass you're being. He sucks AND he's a loon. buh-bye Jake, I'd be amazed if you're starting anywhere next year. Hes not a loon. Imagine if everyone in the world could see YOUR work stats and comment endlessly how you dont match up with the John Elway of whatever it is you do. Even last year when he had good numbers he gave the denver fans the big . And for that I applaud him. He sucks, you suck, we all suck. Merry Thanxgiving. He may not be the greatest qb ever but I have heard interviews with him and he seems like a great dude. I think hes got a little of Rickey Williams in him where he dosent dig the spotlight and constant criticism.

Imagine if everyone in the world could see YOUR work stats and comment endlessly how you dont match up with the John Elway of whatever it is you do. Please. He's being paid gargantuan money to do what he is doing. If he doesn't like the heat, he ought to find a vocation working in much more anonymous settings, which of course would require him to take a pay cut of mammoth proportions. No one put a gun to Plummer's head and forced him to play QB for DEN. Look at the numbers I posted above. The single biggest weakness on the Broncos this year is at QB. Ziachild007
What he is saying makes sense to me. He is saying he is doing the best that he can, so there is no need to let what everyone says about him get to him personally.
FWmaker
I guarantee you - that if Jake Plummer plays Fantasy Football, he doesn't have himself on his own roster. If he did, his whole f'n attitude would change! Thanks again Jake!
Azazello1313
well, anything he says is going to be construed against him. because he sucks. when you suck and cause your team to lose, people say bad things about you, and jake it's ok if you get a little defensive about it, that's just human. i just don't wanna watch you take another snap for the broncos unless jay cutler has a broken leg or something. because you suck. Menudo
Well, I think Plummer is coming to the end of the road as a starting QB. He has always been inconsistent, but, shown signs of good things. This year, he has been pretty poor, pretty consistently. That spells trouble. On another note, I have no problem with the stuff he was saying, and applaud him for keeping a good sense of humor about things. The dog comment made me
AtomicCEO
Everything I needed to know about Plummer, I learned from watching the 2000 NFL Quarterback challenge from Hawaii. Before the accuracy competition, the cameras catch Peyton and Garcia talking strategy on the bench. Jake Plummer approaches them. Jake: So... what's this event? 4 throws at the moving targets? Peyton: (confused) Didn't you win this competition the last two years? Jake: Dude... I don't remember plays we ran this season. Peyton: (disgusted look of condemnation) And then... Denver started trying to trade for him.

It still dosent make him crazy to give the middle finger to all the nay sayers. I admittedly havent watched much denver football this year. The one game I did watch (Denver/Indy) he consistently marched his team down the field and looked great when he could get outside the pocket. I'd take him over plenty of starting QB's in the league (Romo, Losman, Brad, Chad, Brooks. Not counting the rookies.).

You ain't going to please everybody unless you win the Super Bowl every year. No one is expecting Plummer to win the SB all by himself this year. Would it be asking too much to have him perform at a level that at least 2/3rds of the starting QBs in the NFL do? There are only 7 QBs with at least 100 pass attempts who are rated lower than Plummer this year. 1 is benched, 2 came in for incompetent starters, 1 is out for the rest of the year with an injury, and the other 3 are rookies. Care to make any more apologies? To put this in perspective, Plummer would have to increase his efficiency & productivity a whopping 13% to make the margin of being in the top 2/3rds of starting QBs in the NFL right now. Liked what he said about the only thing that matters is the "W" May sound like BS but that will silence most fans except those who play FF.
