Bronco Billy
950 AM The Fan just broke news that WR Rod Smith had an arthroscopic surgery on his hip, and that he will require a minimum of 4 months to recover from the surgery. No link - it was a radio report While this may not affect many FF teams in regard to Smith, since his production has dipped and his age is catching up with him, it does make Brandon Marshall a more appealing WR, given his progress as last year went on, his chemistry with Cutler, & Smith possibly being completely cleared out of the way for him. Pope Flick
Some guy I bumped into on the street said they might go after Moulds or Joe Horn. Do you find that realistic?

Bill Swerski
The only question now is whether or not Yo Mama will draft Smith for the fourth straight season in 12 Men.

Bronco Billy
Some guy I bumped into on the street said they might go after Moulds or Joe Horn. Do you find that realistic? It's a possibility, but I think DEN was ready to go forward with R Smith having a reduced role this coming season regardless. I also think that Marshall is the real deal, and between he & Walker they will present a very good tandem at WR. A vet like Horn or Moulds would only hinder Marshall's development, and might not be able to beat him out, which would lead to discontent. There's also the issue of DEN being tight on cap space. They already lost Kerney because they couldn't put up an offer that matched or beat SEA's. It might be the exact same scenario with Graham. They can hardly afford to spend a bunch on a vet WR. AtomicCEO
Denver had already announced that Marshall would start in front of Smith. It was weird to see in February... but it was in print already. From kffl: -------------------------------------------- Broncos | R. Smith could have reduced role next season - from www.KFFL.com Mon, 8 Jan 2007 13:03:54 -0800 Bill Williamson, of the Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos WR Rod Smith could serve as the team's No. 3 wide receiver next season behind WR Javon Walker and WR Brandon Marshall. ------------------------------------------------- Broncos | R, Smith to compete for starting spot - from www.KFFL.com Wed, 7 Feb 2007 08:17:34 -0800 Lee Rasizer, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports Denver Broncos WR Rod Smith will have to compete for a starting spot in training camp with WR Brandon Marshall. "To say Rod is the definite starter, I can't say that because we do have some great competition at that position," head coach Mike Shanahan said. ---------------------------------------------------- Broncos | Smith likely third receiver in 2007 - from www.KFFL.com Wed, 28 Feb 2007 23:51:46 -0800 According to Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, it's looking like Denver Broncos WR Rod Smith will be the No. 3 wideout behind WR Javon Walker and WR Brandon Marshall for the 2007 season. ---------------------------------------------------------- So, this won't affect anything that wasn't happening already. But man... there nothing like a hip injury to make someone sound like an old man.
wildcat2334
the way the wheels fell off Rod, you sure it could be a replacement...... My hip was sore just watching the old timer run routes last year. He has had a nice career- but he should hang em up.
