MikesVikes
link It sucks and is bad timing all wrapped up in one. LaCrosse Wisconsin (I hear they have a few bars) had the highest number of bars per capita so somebody will fill the void. So an Irish pub burns down 2 days before St. Patricks day. That sucks. Pope Flick
The irishman in me is reacting like Belushi did in Animal House when they gut tripped and dropped a full case of Jack Daniels.
SeductiveNun
Musician Barry Byrne, who helped establish the Irish band Amadans, said the group has played at Houghton’s almost every Wednesday since 2004. He had left there at 12 a.m. Thursday. “There are several bands that owe their existence to the Wednesday nights there,” he said. “The (fire) was devastating — there will be a lot of people who don’t know what to do on Wednesdays.” Byrne said he’ll miss the opportunity the establishment gave him to meet like-minded musicians and play. I've met Barry and know a bit about the place. Truly a loss and a shame. Hopefully another establishment opens it's doors for the bands, as it was a heck of a get together. My friend's ex-girlfriend owns a B&B in LaCrosse, and they used to have kaelies there once a week. I don't know if they still do or not, but if so at least the bands can still get together for those.
