Keep one RB

Recommended Posts

I am drafting 3rd in a keeper league. This is our first year of keeping players, so here are the rules. You can keep 2 players for 3 seasons. You cannot keep 2 players from the same position. With that in mind. Here are my choices. I have Manning, so I will be keeping him. My real choice comes down to Westbrook or Maroney. Opinions? The scoring systems is basic production, about 1 pt per 10 yards rushing or recieving, 3pts per TD. small bonus for 100 yard rush/rec game.

What think?

With the increased emphasis on yardage and decreased emphasis on TDs, it realyl comes down to who you think will have more yardage.

Tough call this early on. Westbrook certainly gets receving yardage to make up for the sharing of the rushing yardage, so that is a plus for him.

BArring injury, Maroney appears to be the primary carrier in NE, so he may have a greater potential for greater yardage, albeit at a greater risk if you must decide this early on.

If you have to decide now, I go safe and take Westbrook.

If you can wait, I keep an eye on Maroney, follow up every possible report you can find on how it appears he will be used and then reevaluate the situation then.

I don't have to decide anytime soon. Our draft isn't until the last weekend before kickoff, and I can check out all of the pre-season activity. I was just starting to gear up and wondering what other FFL owner's thoughts were on the subject. I am leaning toward Westbrook.

Thanks for the thoughts, and keep em coming......

UPDATE. Funny thing. I had an the owner who has both Gore and LJ contact me yesterday and offer to send me my choice of those two RB's in order to swap picks in the 1/3/5th rounds. We serpentine, so those are the rounds that I pick high. I pick 3rd, he picks 6th, so basically I am moving down 3 spots in the odd rounds and I get my choice of those two backs. He cannot keep them both and I am sure whichever one he doesn't keep will go 1st in the draft. If I do that, I have a good chance of picking up a decent RB to go with Gore/LJ with the 6th pick as both Maroney/Westbrook would come available.

What think? Manning/LJ or Manning/Gore doesn't sound too bad to start the season..

I'd go with LJ...but I am starting to like Gore better if the OL continues to shape up...

I don't like where the KC OL is headed right now and LJ's saving grace will be in the passing game...

Gore should blossom this season in continuation from the previous one,..

I'd pretty much flip a coin between the 2....you can't go wrong either way, but I like to take a look at the miles each back has and the fact that LJ will likely get a new contract...

I don't like players coming off a big contract signing...
