polksalet
Do you prefer the red or white style? I like the white/clear stuff. it tends to be a little more tender.

I see them at the store, but they confuse me. What do you do? Just pluck em out of the jar and gnaw? Are there bones?
untateve
you don't know how good pickled pig feet are until you cook em up with cheeze-its!!
detlef
My sister and I used to get a jar of them along with some other odd food items in our Xmas stockings. She was a bigger fan of the pigs feet, I was a bigger fan of the smoked oysters, so we always traded.

Yeah, it is bone hair, cartilage, and fat. I like hormel the best.

polksalet
Wow. . .and I'm sorry, you're currently in a bet to lose how many pounds? Pig feet have virtually zero calories. I don't eat much of the fat as I concentrate on cartilage, veins, and meat.

That and a calf brain sandwich are standard fare in South St Louis bars. Truer Americans you will never find.
twiley
That and a calf brain sandwich are standard fare in South St Louis bars. Truer Americans you will never find. There was a restaurant in South City that I use to go to with my grandparents after Church as a kid that was known for brain sandwiches. They weren't bad at all and if I remember correctly it was a lightly fried brain, raw onion, and horseradish served on rye bread. It's probably been almost 24 years since I've had them though.
