Why doesn't the US require "country of origin" labels on food?

No "product of ?????". I thought all food was labeled with where it came from or atleast where it was imported from.

nope

Although I have thought this for a while, what prompted my post was a story I read about catfish being imported from China and sold in the US which were full of an antibiotic that is banned by the FDA. I hadn't thought that catfish would come from China, I had just assumed that it had come from catfish farms in the south.

Oh, now I see where you are going. I was only thinking fruits and veggies. I forget how much fish we import.
