Seahawks21
Ability, its a no brainer Leroy Hill is the best LB. But to get an ultras sensitive NFL player with a huge ego to admit someone is better than him. Yea, that happens all the time. Based on ability is a no brainer that Hill is the best LB?? Whoa. I suppose you could argue that he is the best, but a no brainer? He doesn't stand out in any statistical categories, and hasn't made a pro bowl. He is a very solid linebacker. No brainer?? That is like saying it is a no brainer that based on ability, Drew Brees is the best QB in the NFL, and its a no brainer. Did you expect his teammates to not give him kudos? No brainer? I don't think it is a no brainer that any LB in the NFL period has more ability than Peterson or Tatupu. Maybe Patrick Willis. That could be a no-brainer. Seahawks21
And your point is. He is an average DL, and will be overpaid regardless of what he accepts. Seattle could have extended Peterson gave him more money up front in signing bonus, and given him a better cap number for this year, and kept him. Instead they give away one of their best defenders for a scrub, who will be overpaid. But then again, this frachise has shown to be stupid in the past. They lose Hutchinson Vikings for a 42 million contract, so what do they do, they overpay the vikings Nate Burleson, what 42 million contract. They sure showed Minnesota, didnt they. You absolutely cannot blame the Seahawks in any way for the departure of Hutchinson. That was the NFL's fault for not nixing the "poison pill". I blame Ruskell for lots of things, but I cannot blame him for not seeing that coming. That was the biggest joke of a signing in the history of professional sports. bushwacked
Would it be so wrong to say that both teams dealt a disgruntled, overpaid player and gained a valued starter? Sure, but I don't think JP was disgruntled. And you guys got the better end of talent on this deal.

Let's see what kind of contribution the 5th rounder makes before we assess who "won".

Sgt. Ryan
Wait, I thought he was arguably their 3rd best linebacker? No Lofa was a distant 3rd LB, and other than LB, what talent does that D have.
bushwacked
,what talent does that D have. It completely depends on what the players may or may not have to say....right?
Sgt Ryan
It completely depends on what the players may or may not have to say....right? No Lofa knows he sucks, so he doesnt count. Peterson is a great guy, and gave props to Leroy Hill for his talent. I got Hill in a few leagues this past year, and completely think he is a break out performer in 2009. Guess we will all see? Hill will most likely got back to the position he was most effective at before JP came into town, and his stats will improve because of it. I'll be happy to bet $100 bones that Seattle's overall D ranking improves from last year after this trade. What you say?

policyvote
Told you so, told you so, neener neener neener! "Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew addressed several topics in an interview today, including the fact that the acquisition of Pro Bowl linebacker Julian Peterson does not change the team's draft plans concerning Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry. In college, Curry played the strong side but Mayhew said that if the Lions draft Curry, he would be the team's starting middle linebacker 'from day one.''
