MojoMan
I have a remote keyless fob - no fancy car alarm or nothin (stock Toyota). I noticed about a week ago that the remote was not consistently working. I changed the battery. No better. Diagnosis?

Diagnosis? since you already changed the battery...do you have more than one fob? if so, is the other working ok?

Chargerz
I have a remote keyless fob - no fancy car alarm or nothin (stock Toyota). I noticed about a week ago that the remote was not consistently working. I changed the battery. No better. Diagnosis? Had the same problem with my keyless remote a while back (also a Toyota) and had to have the mechanism in the driver's-side door replaced. MojoMan
The spare fob works perfectly. I need a replacement fob?
jetsfan
The spare fob works perfectly. I need a replacement fob? i would try another battery first. I've unknowingly bought near-dead batteries for key-fobs, garage door remotes, etc.
westvirginia
i would try another battery first. I've unknowingly bought near-dead batteries for key-fobs, garage door remotes, etc. +1 - try another battery. Also, see about cleaning the contacts inside the fob. A pencil eraser works great for this. Don't get too exuberant because you don't want to tear anything up. ETA - along with pencil eraser some canned air to blow out when you're done. MojoMan
Thanks Huddlers. I opened the fob, gave it a good "balloon work" and cleaning. Working perfectly again.
