matt770
Back when he was popular he seemed like a goofball not to be taken seriously, but man, if his stuff doesn't put a smile on your face and get your toes a-tappin', you have no soul. I want a new drug. You are right, he and the News were a halfway decent band back in the day. Saw him at JFK in Philly back in 83' a part of one of those "monster" concerts they used to put on: Kinks, Joan Jett, Foreigner, Loverboy, & Huey Lewis. Interestingly, Loverboy was the best performance of the bunch, buy Huey Lewis was a close 2nd.
CaP'N GRuNGe
My first cassette tape was Huey Lewis and the News - Sports.
Duchess Jack
Sports was a great CD (okay perhaps not CD). I always wondered where he went. He seems like a guy who'd be able to stick around similar to the way Colin Hay has.
The Holy Roller
Power of Love was my girls basketball team's favorite warmup song.
Big John
Power of Love was my girls basketball team's favorite warmup song. But would not make a good tennis song.

Retrograde assault
Walked into a club in Abilene years ago and who do you suppose was playing there, yep, Huey and the boys! That was a good night!
BeeR
Sports was a great CD (okay perhaps not CD). I always wondered where he went. He seems like a guy who'd be able to stick around similar to the way Colin Hay has. I'm surprised, I thought people here would be ripping on the guy. He was/is a good pop act. In fact I was "convinced" to go to a concert of his years ago and it was a blast, very light but upbeat and "fun" concert and one of the rare ones where the sound engineers appeared to have a clue (eg didn't over-do the drums and bass volume or volume in general).
