Car Buying Question

We are looking at 2 vehicles.

They are both pretty close to the same car. Vehicle A has 78000 miles, but has the DVD entertainment system. Vehicle B has 51000 miles, but no DVD entertainment system. Both are essentially the same price.

We will usually take 2-3 long cars trips per year. (8-10 hour drives)

My 2 kids are 4 and under, with a 3rd on the way. So pretty soon, three kids under the age of 5.

Which do you do?

Go with the one with fewer miles. Then go to Best Buy and buy a portable dvd system with two screens for less than $150. My 4 boys never agree on what to watch so having more than one dvd player is great.

+ a bazillion. A built-in system wouldn't run you more than $1K for a killer one. Those 26K miles are worth a lot more than a grand. That's more than a years worth of driving. Two years for some folks. No contest there CD.

This, and agree on the portable DVD player, just don;t buy the Best Buy house brand Insignia. Giant piece of crap.

Get each kid their own with headphones and have many happy trips... and also works great for flights, etc.

Also, it becomes a special treat to get to watch DVDs on a car trip rather than having it be expected for every trip, even the 5 minute drive to the grocery store, with the built in systems.

Good info here.

The "killer" systems that auto manufacturers put in to their vehicles are not real good to begin with. For the amount of money they usually upcharge you on, you can get a MUCH better system installed.
