posty
http://sports.iwon.com/news/03112010/v3128.html SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -Pro Football Hall of Famer and former television actor Merlin Olsen has died. He was 69. Utah State University assistant athletic media relations director Zach Fisher says Olsen died Wednesday night. Olsen was an All-American at Utah State and a first-round draft pick of the Los Angles Rams in 1962. He was part of the Rams' "Fearsome Foursome" defensive line, which set an NFL record for the fewest yards allowed during a 14-game season in 1968. Olsen is still the Rams' all-time leader in career tackles with 915. Olsen moved on to acting with roles in "Little House on the Prairie" and later his own series, "Father Murphy," which ran from 1981 to 1983. He was diagnosed with mesothelioma last year. darin3
Yep. He seemed like a great man. Absolutely. And not to go too off-topic, but does anyone else find it odd that posty is always the one to post these kinds of threads?
tazinib1
I remember sitting in front of the tv on sundays as alittle kid with my blue and white Rams helmet pretending I was Merlin Olson. I actually watched Little House on the Prairie because of him. RIP Merlin

QUOTE (whomper @ 3/10/10 12:39pm) Posty, do you get "death alerts" to your phone or something ? You are always the first to post a death notice. No big deal, just an observation Yes I do... I also run a death pool that is in its 8th year...
BeeR
Class act all the way. RIP Merlin. Yep. Weird, you always see those freakin commercials about that, never thought I'd actually hear of someone dying from it. And is it me or does it seem like this always happens to the "good guys" - POSs like Vick and Ray Lewis will probably live to be 100.
