Scooby
Read somewhere today that the mayor of Coppell Texas was found dead in her home along with her 19 yr old daughter...both with a single gunshot to the head. No forced entry. Was wondering about the husband, but he passed away several yrs ago. Some say it looks like a murder-suicide, with the mayor as the culprit. How very sad indeed. Anyone know more details?

moneymakers
Texas mayor apparently shot teen daughter, self COPPELL, Texas – Four notes were found at a home where the mayor of an upscale Dallas suburb apparently shot her 19-year-old daughter to death before fatally shooting herself, police said Wednesday. An envelope taped to the front door of Mayor Jayne Peters' home contained a key to the house and a typed note warning police they would find something unpleasant inside, Coppell Deputy Police Chief Steve Thomas said. Three other notes contained instructions for managing family affairs, such as taking care of the dogs, but did not provide explanations for the deaths of Peters and her 19-year-old daughter, Corinne. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_mayor_daughter_dead "It appeared to me that there had been some thought," Thomas said. Police found the bodies Tuesday after the mayor failed to show up at a city council meeting. They said the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Wednesday that the case should be officially classified as a homicide-suicide investigation. DMD
Pretty bizarre - apparently no one saw anything coming and still they have no idea of the actual motive. COPPELL — Friends and neighbors of Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters and her daughter Corinne are stunned and heartbroken, trying to make sense of the gunfire Tuesday evening that left both of them dead. The Peters' front porch has become an impromptu memorial. Friends have left flowers, candles and cards. Lisa Rafiqui, a friend and neighbor to the Peters family for the last 16 years, offered this handwritten note: "No matter what happened, we will always love you." "I’m just sick," Rafiqui said. "I woke up and heard the news from my husband. I had about an hour-and-a-half worth of tears." Inside her home, Rafiqui has a special door signed by guests — including the Peters family. "I had a Christmas party one year, and Jayne and Don and Corinne came to visit us. We had a wonderful evening together, and they signed my door," Rafiqui said. Don Peters died in 2008 of cancer. Today, Lisa Rafiqui's neighbor is considered a killer, but she says that isn't the person she knew. "She would organize a party in the cul-de-sac. All the little children would get dressed up and do Halloween parties and things like that," Rafiqui said. "We'll miss her enthusiasm in the neighborhood." Corinne Peters, 19, was an accomplished dancer who decided to join the Coppell High School drill team, the Lariettes, in her senior year. "She had the best technique on the team," said Ashley Johnson, a Lariette teammate. "She had beautiful pointed feet and leaps and turns. Everything about her was flawless." Ashley and Corinne met in fourth grade. They had just spent time together over the weekend. "You never would've thought Ms. Peters — who is mayor and a rock and always a really nice person — you never really thought this was how it would end," Ashley said. Corinne Peters would soon be a freshman at the University of Texas in Austin. Her friend told us she wanted to be a nurse, but recently changed her mind to study dentistry.
