Scooby
She heard about an army post in Afghanistan from a friend of a friend that was in dire need of supplies---and by supplies I mean toilet paper, baby wipes, and yes fellas, tampons...hey women soldiers need this, considered a luxury item to them. I'm humbled by all this, I feel I take so many things for granted knowing these things were needed so badly, all I have to do is run to wal-mart and buy....so she sent boxes and boxes of these items along with a suprise box of beef jerky from Wiatrek's Meat Market (Poth, TX)...needeless to say she is the most popular lady there, they couldnt thank her enough, but she was so happy to provide:) Love my mom <
tazinib1
When I served during Desert Shield/Storm I was deployed to the Persian Gulf twice. We sat out there for 4 month each time. Let me tell you, a Navy guy on a supply ship has got NOTHING on those men/women that are stationed on land. They have it hard. They may write home and say they are getting by, things are going great, but trust me.....its a dismal atmosphere to be there. People like your mom that go out of there way to send things that we take for granted every day is so appreciated its hard to put into words. l got a care package once from a local bakery that I was fortunate to have selected as my pen pal overseas (no we didn't have internet back then lol...jeez it was only late 80's/early 90's lol). It was full of cookies. I felt like a million bucks eating those cookies. Tell your mom thank you very much from this ole Navy guy. She's made some service members very happy. MikesVikes
Yes, she sounds like a great lady! Awesome. I was at the Mall of America yesterday and when a soldier walked by someone shouted "thank you for serving" out to him. That was kind of cool to see. Skippy
Should have sent a shampon. They absorb ten times what a normal tampon absorbs. Or so Vince from Shamwow says. But yes indeed, your Mom is pretty cool for doing things like that.
Scooby
yes, I'll boxing up some stuff tomorrow---above mentioned items, plus some DVD's, sunscreen, shaving cream, razors, etc...I read somewhere no aerosal cans of any kind, and no chocolate except from Oct-April which u can send without it melting. The only food they get to eat sometimes is snack foods and maybe some gatorade....they loved getting that beef jerky I guess.
