Try hitting function key + F5. You might have switched your monitor to another input by accident. It should be F5 but sometimes it's other function keys depending upon your latpop. Look for the symbol that looks like two overlapping rectangles on one of the function keys. You might have to hit it a couple of times to cycle thru the different outputs. Give it a second or so each time to see if it changes back to your screen.

Your facebook account was hacked . . repeatedly. That might indicate a virus or trojan horse. It absolutely could be related to your current problem. I am shocked you didnt put the two together . . . .

It may be a stupid question, but have you simply tried restarting it?

My computer does this every now and then, where I get black screen and have to restart again to get the welcome screen to pop up... Laptops seem to get even more bogged down at times as they tend to get left on stand-by rather than powered off, though if you started from power-off it should start working correctly if there's no serious issue (which it doesn't sound like it with just a black screen after it was working on reboot).

That may be a good possibility too, sad to say, but in my experience it tends to be a simpler issue that causes a black screen after successful boot up (though I could easily be wrong too)...

Brian...yes I have put the 2 together. I'm just simply sick of hearing the damn Beiber reference. That thing has cause me nothing but heartache, time and stress. I forced closed it last night cause I was updating things, installing anti virus software and such and was tired. Reading about it, that was a no-no. It won't even boot in safe mode now.

Uh oh, I've fried a laptop trying to install an antivirus that I think conflicted with McAfee and the virus and fried mine... But I couldn't even get anything to come on the screen... You still get the boot screens and intro graphics, but it won't start Windows?

If that's the case, do you have a Windows installation CD? If so, I can walk you through how to go into BIOS and reinstall Windows, but you will lose any data stored on your hard drive.

Nope...didn't get an installation CD when I bought the laptop.

Hook it up to a regular monitor and see if it comes up. If it does, the screen is fried.

DoG pointed me in the right direction. Called Sony IT Tech and it was a trojan virus. Laptop is in the process of installing factory settings. I'll lose anything I downloaded but at least I didn't lose my laptop.

Even if you don't have the installation CD, the manufacturer can still ship you one if you give them the prod # on the laptop. I'd call the manufacturer to see if they can ship you one. ALso, maybe hit f4 on startup and see if there's a system repair option? A system restore could help.

F2 is Bios and F10 is the pre-installed Windows recovery disk on this particular laptop. And yes, I'm doing a full on system restore.

Restoration complete!! Did a 100% factory reset. Basically have a brand new laptop. Thank god :whew: Last thing I needed right now was the added stress of being laptopless. Gonna be a little bit of a pain to download updates/programs and all that other jazz but I'm up and running again. Thanks again DoG..sorry I had to pry you away from fixing the shower hahahahaha....

I might be in the same boat soon too.. Just ran a Vipre scan and it found 4 trojans... This is why I keep all my files on separate hard drives, but I'll let you guys know if Vipre/Dr. Web are good enough to wipe the viruses clean...

Oh ,and FYI, I definitely picked up the virus from watching pron

Game web sites are the worst for virus/trojans. Pron sites want you back.

Regardless...What virus/malware prog were you using? A good one should have stopped it in the beginning.
