yo mama
Per fanball Jaguars' senior vice president Paul Vance recently contacted agent Peter Shaffer regarding former Titans' wide receiver Derrick Mason, according to the Florida Times-Union. The Titans released Mason earlier this week in a cost-cutting move, and the Jags are now pursuing him as a free agent. OUR VIEW Mason playing opposite Jimmy Smith would be appealing for fantasy owners, and would certainly increase the fantasy value of quarterback Byron Leftwich. Several teams are interested in Mason, but the fact that his former wide receivers coach Steve Walters is now working in the same capacity for the Jags could be the deciding factor. Jacksonville has roughly $20 million in salary cap space available, so they can afford to be more aggressive with Mason than most teams. YO MAMA'S VIEW Leftwich was already having a stellar year (pre-injury) with only one legit WR for the Jags. With the reduced dependence on the run game last year (Fred Taylor's prospects scare me this year even more than last) we could see even more of a passing attack out of the Jags next year. Sure, its totally speculative to say that. But *if* Mason landed in Jacksonville, Leftwich would be someone you'd HAVE to keep an eye on as an early #2 QB pick up, or - if you waited until late in the draft to pick up a QB - perhaps even a #1. Piranha
This could only make the Jaguars better. Maybe even boost Mason's fantasy value

muck
Did Reggie Williams die?
DMD
Did Reggie Williams die? 711872 certainly not. But at the age of 36, Jimmy Smith will be closer to death than most the other NFL players.
yo mama
Did Reggie Williams die? 711872 No, he didn't die. But he started in 15 games last year, yet only caught 27 passes for 268 yards 1 TD. Whether Mason played opposite Jimmy Smith, or in lieu of him, I think he'd be a nice addition to the Jags' passing game.
CaptainHook
Did Reggie Williams die? 711872 I saw him play. It's gonna take some time with him. He's definitely one of those guys who will blossom in his third year, or be a huge bust. Jags definitely reached a little in the draft last year to take him as early as they did.
