Swashbucklers
Just thought some of you might want to know what the ex-Lion great is up to nowadays! Former Lions QB subdues knife-wielding man Tuesday, July 26, 2005 By Lisa Medendorp CHRONICLE STAFF WRITER Former Detroit Lions quarterback Eric Hipple subdued a knife-wielding man Saturday night at a large party on Mona Lake, according to Norton Shores police. The man with the knife, 24-year-old Douglas Davies, of 1498 Scenic, was asked to leave the party several times and had refused, police said. The party, held annually during the Muskegon Air Fair, was at the home of Dan Cooper, 3754 Baker. The incident was reported at 9:45 p.m. Sgt. Jon Gale said Davies was in the front yard when he allegedly pulled a 31/2-inch folded, serrated knife on 43-year-old Scott Sanborn of Norton Shores. Gale said Davies slashed at Sanborn, leaving a small scrape on his stomach about 3 inches long. Hipple, 47, of Fenton, was attending the party and ran at Davies and "laid him out," Gale said. Hipple told police he had seen Davies waving the knife around and refusing to leave. Hipple said he ran at Davies and "head-butted" him," Gale said. "He grabbed his right arm that was holding the knife and tackled him to the ground," Gale said. When police arrived, several people were holding Davies on the ground and the knife had been taken away from him. "Our position is Mr. Davies was defending himself from an unprovoked attack that left him with a broken foot and possibly other injuries," said his attorney, Michael G. Walsh. "At this point, we intend a vigorous defense." Davies was arraigned Monday before visiting 60th District Judge Richard J. Pasarela on a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. Gale said Davies had gone to the home looking for his girlfriend and that he was being disorderly inside the house, "yelling and causing problems." He said Davies had used the bathroom and then came out cursing about the family's dog trying to bite him. Walsh said Davies bent down to pet the German shepherd and the animal bit him in the hand, leaving a puncture wound. A $2,000 family surety bond was posted. Preliminary examination was set for Aug. 8.

Puddy
Hipple is just another great in the long line of great Lions quarterbacks... 897041[/snapback] I remember his debut on Monday night football. He passed for over 400 yards and 3 or 4 TD's. It was pretty much downhill from there. Oh and what's up with giving the addresses of all of those involved. Er if it was one of his good days anyway. I remember he was the kind of guy who was never afraid to just reach back and SLING that hummer for a 90 yd bomb, lmao.....and it worked more than you'd think. In fact as kids we called it a "Hipple" when you pulled something out of your....well yknow. Looks like he's at it again!
