Seahawk's crowd noise artificial?

All I can say to this as a Seahawk fan and ticket holder, is BS. The fans in Seattle know that when they get to a Seahawks game, they have a *responsibility* to be loud as hell. The fans don't ask for much from their fellowfans, but we expect noise and a lot of it.

Last year I was coaxing a woman and her mother (around mid 30s and early to mid 60s) near me to get up and cheer. It took a little coaxing, but by the fourth quarter they were doing pretty well, considering. Not like my crazy a--, but they were cheering. I take it as a badge of honor on Mondays when I go into work and I sound like a frog, and my boss always goes "Seahawks huh?" It goes back to the Concrete Palace, ala the Kingdome. Stupid as it may be, we take pride in being loud... and I can tell they this, the fans at the game this Sunday will be even louder then usual. Can't wait to see that wimp Eli cry like a baby about the noise.

I have been to many many games and when people stand I don't complain, I just stand up too. But I never understood how standing makes you louder.

And the people who stand, turn around, and wave their arms up and down are odd. They are the only ones standing, in the way, and often have their backs turned to the action.

I too am a Seahawks season ticket holder... I don't think I've ever heard that place more loud than it was during the NFC Championship. It really is one of the hardest places for a road team to come in and get a win... and it is definitely not artificial noise in any way. We scream ourselves hoarse every Sunday the 'Hawks are in town. :D

Sounds like an excellent chance for a govt grant to pay for a study of this pheneomen. :D

You do realize this isn't a slap at the fans but at the stadium management, right? :D

What's wrong with the league cracking down on illegal noise amplification, etc?

It's only fair. :D

If you were not piping in noise, move on, it doesn't matter.

Im pretty sure the Seahawks created this rumor or at least brought it up this week just to get the fans pumped up and extra loud for the game.

And no one is complaining about anything the league is doing. SO I dont get your post...

I agree with this. We have this onoxious group of drunk fans next to our section that will throw insults and yell at us if they don't think we are STANDING as much as they are? When the Seahawks are on defense I stand and :D until the snap and then I sit and watch the play develop. I do this partly to be sensitive to the older couple that have season tickets directly behind me so I don't block their view. They pay just as much for their seats as I do. It's unbelieveable how rude and childish these group of fans are to their OWN FANS? I leave every game with most of my voice gone, but yet I don't stand enough? :D

I can't wait until my beloved Vikings come to town next month so I can dress in my Viking gear. That will give them something to yell at.

I must have been a little fuzzy in my post about the meek female fans behind me. I was happy that I was able to get them to cheer, not to stand per se. At the beginning of the game there were just sitting there silent like it was a book club meeting or something, so I starting try to talk them into cheering at the right moments, (and standing at the right moments too I suppose.) But otherwise they, and myself, were sitting and relaxing between plays and such. I agree, I don't need to block the view of kids or older people behind me. I typically only stand for 3rd down stands, inside the 20s, or right after a big play. The exception of course were the playoff games last year, where I paid for a seat but my rear never touched it. That championship game was the 2nd loudest game I've heard, except for the Monday Night Raiders game in the Dome. And like the true Homer I am, when Paul Allen raised that 12th man flag and the crowd started really going I think I lost a lung as I yelled like I never have before at a game. I actually felt a little dizzy after it. :P

I'll be there to throw vulgar insults at the traitor that used to be my favorite seahawk behind Hamlin and Mack Strong.

Sorry, I didn't know my friends and I were THAT obnoxious... geez. All you gotta do is stand up when we're standing up and we'll slap hands. Maybe I'll only have 9 beers instead of 11 too... need to cut back.
