Jumpin Johnies
from PFT CARSON PALMER INJURED? A reader tipped us off on Tuesday to the possibility that Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer emerged from Monday night's loss to the Colts with an injury. Per the tipster, Palmer has a shoulder injury, possibly a torn rotator cuff. We've poked around a bit via our network of sources, and we've concluded that there's something to this one. It's our understanding that Palmer is undergoing tests on the shoulder today. It's the last thing the 8-6 Bengals need as they prepare to face the 8-6 Broncos on Sunday in Denver. The winner will be in great shape for a playoff spot; the loser will be battling with the likes of the Jaguars and the Steelers and the Jets and the Chiefs and the Titans and the Bills (the Bills?) for the six seed. Bengal Mania
From Bengals.com ~1 hour ago. Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer didn’t practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury, but he’s listed as probable for the Christmas Eve game in Denver and is expected to have a full practice Thursday. Palmer had his throwing shoulder checked after he got sacked on the last play of the first half Monday night in Indianapolis and he appeared to take another shot there in the second half when end Robert Mathis hit him just as he was throwing the ball. Jack Brennan, the club's director of public relations, said there is no structural damage. Trainers and coaches felt Palmer came out of the game sore, Brennan said, and that it was best to hold him out of practice for the day. Steeltown Dre
Thanks. Here is the link: http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5793 I like the discussion in the link about CJ and his McDonalds habit - apparently it was a serious topic of discussion at Marvins press conference: Asked about Johnson leaving the game for a good chunk of the third quarter for his almost weekly need for an I.V, Lewis said he’s not worried about Johnson's diet or trips to McDonald’s because he’s been given a checklist of things to eat. “Something he could relate to,” said Lewis, referring to the cornerback checklist. “He eats the right things. “The McDonald’s thing is a thing just to get you guys to think about it. He goes to McDonald’s to get hotcakes. He likes pancakes. He goes and gets McDonald’s breakfast. Instead of getting pancakes here, he gets pancakes on his way here. It’s not a big deal.” Lewis said Johnson has been tested and the results simply say he has to hydrate. Although Johnson has never hid his fondness for Big Macs, Lewis insists that he eats mostly the pancakes. “He’s just a guy that needs to hydrate. It’s part of him. It’s from talking too much,” Lewis said. “He hyperventilates himself, he dries out, and he needs an I.V.” Asked about the criticism of his diet, Johnson said, “I don’t want to talk about it,” and he apparently isn’t going to get any publicly from his head coach. [/i] Isn't Marvin Harrison a junk food eater too? Geez. Perhaps he just needs more liquids? Or he's sick. Cramps caused by dehydration at the start of a game? Something doesn't add up. He does like hotcakes and sausage. Bif deal.

hezagenius
Perhaps he just needs more liquids? NFS. I have an idea: hydrate him before the game so he doesn't have to come out for half a quarter! This has happened 2-3 times in the last few weeks. You'd think the team doctors and coach might have an idea by now.
Seahawks21
The way he got hit on the play would lead me to believe that the injury would probably be an A.C. rather than a rotator cuff.
pseudolefty
Just listened to Dan Partick interviewing Carson Palmer. The first question addressed Carson's shoulder and he says he's ok. He doesn't know where those rumors about torn rotator cough or other shoulder problems came from. He said he just took off yesterday's practice to "rest". He'll be good to go on Sun. against the Broncos. The second question addressed cold weather conditions and snow. Palmer says that is not an issue. They have no indoor facility in Cincy, so they're always practicing out in the cold and are used to those conditions. I was relieved to hear that because I have Palmer playing in my Championship game on Sun. and was considering benching him due to the injury reports. Now after hearing right from the horse's mouth, I feel better about sticking with him. Of course, Denver has a good pass D, but I still consider Palmer to be "a stud" despite low nos. last Mon. night against Indy.

They have no indoor facility in Cincy, so they're always practicing out in the cold and are used to those conditions. I believe I've read somewhere that Cincinnati is the northern-most NFL city without an indoor practice facility. Apparently, Mike Brown would have to pay for it himself, instead of taxpayers, so its unlikely they will have one any time soon.
