SheikYerbuti
Just had my favorite summer dinner: A dozen blue claw crabs, steamed in beer and slathered in garlic and old bay with a side of french fries and cole slaw. Cover the coffee table with paper shopping bags cut to lay flat, dump the crabs on the table, sit in front of a ball game and go to work. Usually takes about 5 innings to get through the dozen. Afterward, just roll up the bags and toss them away. I'm a happy camper.

I'm sceptical of crab shacks in general. . .I never feel like it's worth the money. My favorite All You Can Eat crab place was $25 for snows, now it's up to $35. I'd much rather wait for them to go on sale at the store for $6/pound, buy 10 pounds and keep them in the freezer all summer. Gotta be twice the crab per $ and the only trade off is I have to wash a pot.

I can't get myself to buy KC at restaurants anymore because of this deal.

I have eaten at a Joe's Crab Shack, several years ago while visiting my folks in Florida. I can't say I remember the food, but I do remember the entire wait staff doing some kind of conga line/line dance in the middle of the restaurant. That's either a signature of the entire franchise, or I just happened to go to a place where the waiters and waitresses love to boogie. Haven't been to City Island, but will check those places out next chance I get. Problem is, I'm only up in NYC a few times a year and have so many places I love to eat. I'll be up there on Thursday for a show, but I'm already planning on eating at my favorite Indian place for lunch and a Cuban joint I used to frequent for dinner. . .oh and did I mention the obligatory slice of pizza and a dozen bagels to take home? I'd drive up to a full tank of gas to pounce on that deal.

policyvote
this is a chain that was started in texas... i had heard good things about them.. give em about a B- joe's I went there once. Wasn't my idea, 'cuz I was in the mood for something spicy. I asked the server how hot the Cajun Blackened Shrimp really was, and she goes, "OH, it's a nose runner!" I went ahead and ordered it and was glad I did. Peace policy Edited April 16, 2008 by policyvote

I frequent Clemente's but would be up for something new. If I'm on Emmons Ave, I just have to go to Lundy's. It's such a piece of Brooklyn history. My parents went on their first date there. Maybe next time I'm back in the hood, I'll break tradition and try Clemente's.
