Bears WR Corps

Bears WR coach sees a better corps of playmakers since the release of Berrian and Muhammed.

Devin Hester was getting the ball all over the field in practice -- deep, short, out, across the middle. Brandon Lloyd looked to be headed in the right direction in a career-saving effort. On Sunday, he made a nice over-the-shoulder catch for a touchdown ahead of cornerback Corey Graham.

''But the best player for us probably out on the field has been 81 [Rashied Davis],'' Drake said. ''He's quicker, he's faster, he's stronger. He puts more fear in them -- you go ask those guys on defense who puts fear inside them.''

Add wily veteran Marty Booker into the equation and Mark Bradley could be fighting for a roster spot when his right knee heals, along with third-round pick Earl Bennett and others.

My question is; Can Hester be a fulltime receiver and still be effective? Rashied Davis, I actually had to look him up. NFL.com has him listed at 5-9 and 187. Can one of those guys put up 900 yards or so and handfull of TD's?

I'm not very excited. Hester is the only one who has proven to be a gamebreaker and is the only one of that group that garners any excitement for me. And let's not forget, even tne great Steve Smith couldn't make plays without a competent QB throwing him the ball. I'm still wondering what we're going to do for a QB. Me thinks sexy Rexy gets another chance

I think when an article uses the term 'wiley veteran' it really means 'this guy is too old to be a difference maker but will teach the young guys a few tricks'.

Wow. Evidently random drug testing does not extend to position coaches. This is the same team that is having an open competion between Grossman and Orton to see who is best when both have played for the Bears for at least three years. Wow.

bradley showed a few glimpses before he hurt his knee.

Agree. Bradley is the one to watch here. When he's healthy, the guy is pretty good. But he has been so injury prone.

I don't know how much impact Hester will have since he is learning the position.

I can only imagine he was at some other team's minicamp or his Josh Gordon supplier has some really good stuff in right now.

Truth. I've drafted Forte in 2 leagues, and the one real concern I have with him is the complete lack of a credible passing game to keep the SS out of the box & mucking up his running lanes.

I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe otherwise. BTW - I do like Rashied Davis, but asking any WR to be anything more than a #4 FF WR for this team is simply asking too much. Davis has actually looked better than Berrian did at times in the past. He's hardly a stud WR, but on the right team he'd make a decent #2 WR and a good #3 WR.

Hester? He's got to show me more than deep speed. His game looks a lot like Lelie's to me. You'll see a great game when he catches a long bomb for a TD plus a couple of other catches, and then you'll see a 3 to 4 game stretch of terrible numbers when he doesn't manage to get under one of Grossman's bombs. Inconsistency is a killer in FF (says a longtime Lee Evans' owner...)

Footballguys early projections done by Bob Henry has 9 or 10 tds total between the top 5 wr's for the Bears. 10 td's for 5 of their receivers does not bode well for having any of their players on a fantasy roster. I'd maybe consider Earl Bennett in a dynasty league for 3 years down the road. Maybe by then they'll have a QB who can play.

lol - exactly

Don't forget that stud RB corps.

CHI may be the biggest offensive wasteland since the Dilfer-led Ravens and leads my "forget this team" category for FF 08.

If you are mining for offensive gold with the Bears you are going to end up a broke old prospector with a crooked back.

Maybe Olsen will be a standout TE since there really isn't anybody else to throw to? I mean, its not like they are going to be ahead in a lot of games and plan on grinding out the clock. They'll have to fight for every W and probably be playing from behind a decent portion of the time. So, other than a possible 1TE that I can get late in the draft....I don't feel any of them are worth drafting.
