T-Scorp
Not to stop the jokefest here but When did Rodgers eclips Favre??? Here are Favre's accomplishments He is the only player to win the AP Most Valuable Player three consecutive times (1995–97).[4] He has led teams to eight division championships (1995, 1996, 1997, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009), five NFC Championship Games (1995, 1996, 1997, 2007, 2009), and two Super Bowl appearances (Super Bowl XXXI, Super Bowl XXXII), winning one (Super Bowl XXXI). He holds many NFL records, including most career touchdown passes, most career passing yards, most career pass completions, most career pass attempts, most career interceptions thrown, most consecutive starts, most consecutive starts by a QB, most career victories as a starting quarterback. Mr Rodgers has a LONG way to go to surpass Mr Favre. No MVP or even a Division Title. Has one ring as does Brett. the only thing he has over Brett at this point is a Superbowl MVP, oh and a wrestling belt but my kid has two of those so I guess he (my son) eclipsed Rodgers!!! But if you want to Crown his A$$... Edited February 8, 2011 by T-Scorp

piratesownninjas
Get real. That is real. I'm far from a cowboy fan, but Aikman turned it on when he needed to. The statement above isn't a knock on Marino, I'm just saying I'll take a 6-10 year career with multiple rings over a 20 year career with all of the statistical records and 1 or less SB rings. Marino, Aikman, and Favre are all legends, but give me Aikman's career any day of the week. Records can be broken, but you can't take back super bowl rings. Living the Dream
Always amazes me how many people don't get that teams win SBs, not QBs lol @ Aikman over Marino. I agree completely teams win Superbowls. It always amazes me how many people dont get wins matter more than stats. Aikman was a winner when it mattered. Marino had alot to do with the loses in his post season games. Do you think Aikman would give up even one of those 3 rings for any of Marinos records. Marino certainly would in a second. Both are HOFers, and Marino was the man of the offense that never got it done, where Aikman was a crucial cog that got it done again, and again. And to get back on target, Rodgers hasnt even come close to eclipsing Favre. The streak alone is one of the most impressive feats in football history. Favre took his team to 2 Superbowls, and Im sure after they won the first one, everyone thought they would be going again and again and again, and they went to 1 more and lost. There is no gurantee Rodgers ever gets to another again. Favre owns almost every QB record on the planet and isnt missing a SB ring like Marino. Favre has what 3 MVP awards, that Rodgers isnt likely to come close too, in this day and age with so many quality QBs playing in the same era. The list goes on and on. Rodgers just won his first playoff game a month ago, and now he has surpassed Favre. Only in Fantasyland. . And I cant stand Favre, especially the drama he brings. Just amazes me how quick we are to throw away the past and act as if the new is the greatest ever. BeeR
Aikman was a winner when it mattered. No, the Cowboys were a winner when it mattered. Put Aikman on Marino's Dolphins and he'd be lucky to do as well and IMO likely worse. Put Marino on Aikman's Cowboys and they likely have at least those 3 SB rings if not more. Marino had alot to do with the loses in his post season games. Idon't have a game-by-game breakdown of his playoff losses, but I can say with confidence Aikman would have also lost that SB to the 49ers easily w/the same Fins team. Both are HOFers, and Marino was the man of the offense that never got it done, where Aikman was a crucial cog that got it done again, and again. You still don't get it. The Dolphins were the ones who never got it done, while the Cowboys got it done again and again. And to get back on target, Rodgers hasnt even come close to eclipsing Favre. That much we agree on.... Problem is Marino had this poor game every season he took his team to the playoffs, and Aikman won 3 SBs and 8 playoff games in a row. The most playoffs games marino won in a row was 3, the year they went to the Superbowl. So Marino had the numbers, and Aikman 3 SB wins, a SB MVP, and a 8 playoff game win streak. Living the Dream
You could've thrown Tavaris Jackson on that cowboys team and they would've won 3 super bowls. Pure ignorance Dallas should have won 2 more SB if Jerrys ego wasnt so big he ran off Jimmy. they won a 3rd in spite of Switzer, and because of leadership like Aikman. Aikman was one of the most accurate passer in his generation. Jackson was as accurate as you with the statement above. Complete jackass. piratesownninjas
Aikman was one of the most accurate passer in his generation. Aikman could have also had numbers in the area of the great statistical leaders if he would have played in an offense that would have allowed it. People tend to discount Aikmans greatness because he played on an insane team... Like it has been posted above, Aikman could take over a game at any time if he needed to. His accuracy, toughness and leadership were off the charts. And I stick to my statement above. If Rodgers is fortunate enough to win another SB ring, he'll have surpassed Favre for me, a Packer fan. When it's all said and done I'd rather have Rodgers put up numbers similar to what he's done the three previous years for the next 4-6 years and get another ring. All time statistical numbers don't mean a lot to me at the end of the day. I take Bart Starr over Favre because he has multiple rings. And Sarge, I'm not the media. I'm not saying dynasty and repeat right now. That's ESPN and NFLN. I think you get fired up hearing what the talking heads are saying on ESPN and NFLN and act as if all of the Packer Nation is saying it... I know how hard it is for a team to make it. I was one of the people back in the mid 90s thinking that Favre and company were going to go on a run like the Cowboys did earlier in the decade. If the Rodgers era doesn't get another ring then I'm still gracious that I saw him do it this year.
