delfamdelfam
per michael lombardi, Steve Smith will not be traded and will report to camp in Carolina tomorrow. With 3 good RB's and a rookie QB looks like Smith has little fantasy value this year.
detlef
What the hell is Carolina thinking? Blow this effer up! If you're a good team, you resign your guys, if you're not, you get new ones. First Williams, now Smith. They obviously have needs, so why keep a crowded backfield crowded as opposed to address those other needs through FA? And while Smith is a gamer, you know he's going to go all TO on Newton if the kid can't get him the ball. Seems like two really bad moves IMO. Duchess Jack
what a shame. poor Little Stevie Wonder. I was really hoping that he could go to a team where he could play wide reciever.
Scorcher
I was hoping he would catch a break and be picked up by Cleveland.

And not just on the Carolina end of things. The players too. They're not gonna win there so they obviously went for the payday. I've gotta think both would have commanded decent coin on the open market. Maybe not Carolina coin, but real good money for sure. I guess it'll be ok sucking for them so long as a big fat check is being cashed.
bpwallace49
Clearly the problem with a 2-12 team was the coach . . . all the players and GM are awesome.

McBoog
Clearly the problem with a 2-14 team was the coach that took them to a Super Bowl . . . all the players and GM are awesome. Fixed: There was a lot of talk that SS would end up as a Bolt. Edited July 30, 2011 by McBoog
Chargerz
Fixed: There was a lot of talk that SS would end up as a Bolt. Now even more than before Malcolm Floyd needs to be signed. I haven't seen or heard anything on those negotiations.
rebdog
Now even more than before Malcolm Floyd needs to be signed. I haven't seen or heard anything on those negotiations. i agree. why is it that all that's being said is Floyd to Vikings or Cardinals or maybe the Jets? who is the #2 WR in San Diego if not Floyd? i know it seems Rivers can get the ball to anyone but can you give him a little help? if Gates is hurting is he just supposed to throw it up for VJax every play? Sproles is gone too. this makes no sense.

tazinib1
Then Patrick Crayton becomes the #32 . . and they drafted Vincent Brown as well V.Brown is not ready to assume a maor role in 2011. He'll be the guy in 2012 I'm sure. As far as Crayton goes, he was signed when the Chargers had suspensions and inuries. Not somebody management proected as there #2 in 2011. I'm fairly confident that AJSmith realizes this as well and makes a play for James Jones or even B.Edwards.

As that position will get looks after Vjax Gates Mathews whoever the #2 WR is, I am sure he can be a decent stopgap until V Brown is ready. P{lus I see Todman playing a small part of the Sproles reeiving back role this year . . I dont know their cap situation, but they did just pay Weddle and have Vjax on the hook for 13 million-ish this year . . EDIT- Forgot about Aijurtu (or whatever the hell his name i) in the mix as well. Will Naanee get cut? or is he a FA Edited July 31, 2011 by bpwallace49
