Dcat
Dear fellow Aaron Rodgers owners: We face a week 16 dilemma. If the 49ers lose to Seattle on Saturday (4:15 game, EST), Green Bay will have locked up home field throughout and then it is highly likely that Rodgers sits for all or most of Sunday night's game vs Chicago. Now I'm sure that none of us would want to carry, let alone start the terrible Chicago QB against the Packer defense instead. And I can guarantee that neither of the Monday night QBs (Ryan and Brees) are available on the waiver wire to use instead of Rodgers. So, what choice do we have but to either start a different QB playing on Saturday or to gamble that the 49ers defeat Seattle thereby forcing Green Bay to play to win in order to lock up homefield throughout? What a mess. I'd prefer not to play any of the mediocre available QBs on Saturday. I am picking up Flynn (Rodgers' back up) for my Roster just in case Rodgers sits. If Aaron sits then I'll have to roll with Flynn in the Championship game. Here are the other available QBs that can be used on Saturday instead of Rodgers on Christmas: Freeman @ Carolina Grossman v Vikings Palmer @ KC Kolb/Skelton @ Cincinnati Orton v Raiders Locker/Hasselbeck v Jags This really blows. Dcat
yeah, grossman is the best of the Saturday alternatives, but I just can't see starting him knowing that San Francisco will probably beat Seattle forcing Rodgers to play for at least 3 quarters on Sunday. MustOfBeenDrunk
Wait ,, if they sit Rogers then have the bye ,, that's 3 weeks of not playing would they really want him to sit for 3 weeks ?
Big John
Another point is that the Packers are playing their archrivals who tried to knock them out of the playoffs last year. Don't see them easing up on the throttle.
Dcat
Assume GB has it locked up before their game on Sunday. You really think they will play Rodgers behind this banged up OL? I don't think so. Maybe they play him the week after, but not this Sunday after he was sacked mercilessly in the 4th quarter last Sunday. After Jennings injury, McCarthy is getting skittish I'm sure. i_am_the_swammi
Wait ,, if they sit Rogers then have the bye ,, that's 3 weeks of not playing would they really want him to sit for 3 weeks ? It would actually be four weeks of sitting... he played this past Sunday (18th). If he sits this Sunday (25th), Week 17th (1st), the bye week (8th), and finally play in the Divisional Rounds (15th)...he'd have had almost a month off. Sorry, ain't happenin. And even if he plays only a half, I'll take a half of Rodgers wanting to get back on the winning track than any of the other momos on that list of guys available. detlef
If I had to guess, I'd say that the Pack will only rest guys who are dinged up and need the rest. Anyone fully healthy will get enough reps to put up decent numbers. And this isn't hopeful thinking. I'm facing Rodgers in the finals and, now that I lost Jennings last week, have no Packers on my team. Nothing would make me happier than to see him play the 1st quarter and then put on a jacket. But I don't see it happening.
TheAdonis2010
how big is your roster that you can pick up 6 qbs.....and do u think any of the people you drop for this are going to benefit other teams in particular teams u might play this or next week (if your league plays next week)? The 13ers
Even if Rodgers plays, he won't score much against a desperate d looking to clamp down as much as possible at a cold locale. I picked up Flynn, but I also picked up Moore. It's going to be a tough decision. I still think two and a half quarters of Rodgers is better than the other two options. Woodside Warriors
Rosters are 20 players. No IDP. It's the Superbowl and it's redraft. I may wait until Sunday morning to do these moves. Except Flynn, McCown and Cutler, I'm picking them up tonight. And my opponent is stacked. I'd love for him to pick up Peyton Hillis or Roy Helu or Mike Tolbert and start them over Arian Foster or Lesean McCoy. If he starts 1 of them over Arian or Shady.....HE deserves to lose. stevegrab
Interesting thread, a few thoughts. Rodgers will not sit, he'll play at least a half. People were worried about this to an extent most of the season as GB ran away with the best record. Now that they don't have an undefeated season left to play for people are more concerned. But I wouldn't get to cute and bench Rodgers expecting him to sit out, then watch him throw for 3-4 TDs without playing a whole game. Swammi, the expression "he sits for 3 weeks" is how most people think of it, sitting out 3 games, since players always "sit for a week" between games, meaning there is no game. But I agree no way Rodgers takes this game off, let alone the last two plus the bye for a month without full contact/speed football. he may only play a half in each game if they don't need to win (which is still a big if). michaelredd9, you said you're dropping Kasay "for a kicker who kicks in the early Sunday game." Just to be clear, there are no early Sunday games, only SNF, MNF and the usual full slat of CBS/Fox day games on Saturday. You also said "The Pack can play a very vanilla offense and let their defense win." The Packers haven't shown they can win with their defense this year, they are scoring at will that's how they win. But I suppose againt the Bears with Hanie and no Forte this may be possible. Good luck to the Rodgers owners, personally I'd roll with him, and maybe have Flynn to plug in if they announce that Rodgers will not play or be very limited. SEC=UGA
You'd be crazy to start Rodgers' backup this week. You will have no chance of knowing prior to kick off if he will be sitting or not.
