stevegrab
Hope he recovers but as a rider I can say he made many mistakes - no lights after dark/dusk - wearing dark clothign - dirt bike on the street (tires for the dirt don't work good on pavement) Story doesn't say if he or the car driver had the right of way. Get well and if you're going to ride a motorcycle protect yourself with conspicous safety gear.

stevegrab
I reviewed more details and info that became available, - no stop sign at the intersection for Walker - cross traffic did have a stop sign - it was at or near sunset I suspect the driver that hit him stopped, then proceeded and didn't seen any traffic. If this was truly a dirtbike with no lights that would mean no reflectors or anything to help it stand out. Tragic accident, but probably very avoidable with taking some precautions. Riding is dangerous, anybody taking it up needs to recognize that and do what they can to mitigate those dangers (wear saftey gear, lights and bright clothing to help being seen, get training, etc.). Just this rider's view of another tragic loss of life tied to my hobby.
