Guest Sores
Ok....just got back from lunch at the new Hooters Casino. Initial impressions: From the outside, you would never know it was the San Remo. From the inside, you would never know it was the San Remo. Parking is bad. Almost no parking to speak of. I can't imagine the situation at night if it is that bad at 11:15 in the morning. Very clean and fresh feeling throughout the property. Very small casino. Now that I think back on it, I am not sure I saw a craps table. Lots of BJ tables, only 1/2 of which were being used while I was there. Found the poker room....very small and offset from the main casino. Pool is going to be off the "Hooters" restaraunt. My guess is that it will be very nice. The "talent" is not what I expected. I thought there would be a lot of hot waitresses...not. A lot of the video poker machines and other slots are still not operational (they just opened on the 3rd). If Sky stays at the same place he did last year, he should request a room with a view of the Hooter's pool. Looks to me like you might get some pretty decent entertainment value staying at the Hawthorne Suites. I got a free Hooters pen when the nice waitress handed me one to sign the credit card slip for lunch. Not sure if it was intended as a gift, but I took it. Dan Marino's restaraunt was open, but only one or two people were dining in there. Looked nice enough, but I don't think people are going to go to Hooters for a fine dining experience. On the other hand, by the time I finished lunch there was a line at the door of Hooters. Much like you would find at any buffett in town around lunchtime I would imagine. Old School
The San Remo sucked. I'm glad they folded. I actually stayed there, maybe 8 years ago.
skylive5
Let's see.... The girls are not up to snuff. The poker room is very small. The casino itself is small. The house odds are going to be out of sight if those rooms are that small and they have to pay for the upgrade to the San Remo. Won't be playing any machines there I guess. Hmmm..... guess there still isn't any reason to stop in on my way to the MGM. I will be staying at the Hawthorne again though... so I will try and get a good view of the pool. Thanks my obsession. Wasn't planning on doing the "review" today....just thought it would be a welcome public service.

whitem0nkey
Dan Marino's restaurant did great its first night but it could never duplicate that performance.
mitpdub
I was there Thursday for the Grand Opening and stayed free a few nights with a VIP invite. Thursday was so packed that they wouldn't let people in without a VIP invite. The place couldn't handle the number of people, even by Vegas standards. The rooms are so so, probably 2 star quality. The room I was in wasn't completely finished and didn't even have a table in it yet. The power was out for a few hours thursday afternoon and the place started to get hot. The fire alarm didn't work so they had to leave a guard on every floor to stand fire watch. The Thursday Grand Opening party in the evening was good though, with free food at any of the restraunts and free booze everywhere. I ate at Dan Marino's and the staff was nice and the food and booze kept flowing. Probably the highlight was the 50 wings with 3 mile island hot sauce that some friends and I shared at the regular Hooters restraunt out back near the pool. As far as a casino, its just very small. They keep the dealers that can wear a hooters uniform in the front tables when you walk in,and the other dealers are hidden in the back. I would say that the crowd was a younger crowd with most people being under 30. I probably wouldn't go back and stay over night there unless it was free but definently some eye candy hangs around the place. NOT a young crowd by any means post VIP party. When you have a party like that, you can control content and set your own agenda. As for eye candy...mitpdub and I must have different taste in women. I saw ONE count her, ONE woman that turned my head. Why can I say that? Cuz it was so standout compared to the rest of the crowd. Like I said, I will go back, but don't get the wrong impression that this place is a mini-Palms or Hard Rock.

Hugh B Tool
San Remo blew chunks across the board. Hooters taking it over just means they will have sub par wings and a small beer selection served to you by half decent looking women in Tenn. Vols colored cameltoe showing(props here) shorts. Don't get me wrong I've had some fun at different Hooter's on my travels, but seem to leave with a overpriced underserved feeling. If I want eyecandy in Vegas I'll sit at the far end(left side facing) of the bar that sits over the Sports book at the Rio. This is the premiere spot to be. Waitress station for the main floor(Rio's are the BEST) Sportsbook real close with mucho screens to watch, good drinks poured, video poker in front of you and being surrounded by fine ladies that seem to loosen up a bit when at their station getting drinks for all the slobs on the floor. If you have any game at all, hours of enjoyment can be had

The cocktail (very apt name) waitresses wear the BEST outfits in Vegas.

There were a few hookers hanging around but they were usually easy to spot, but there were definently some lookers. The front bar had the bartenders that were decent, but obviously had to have silicone to pass the interview.
