max
I just saw a commercial on NBC showing that in the fall they are going to have a Friday Night Lights series. Do you think it will be any different from the movie. I haven't read the book so I don't know how close the movie is to the book. I will probably give the show a chance to see if it will be any good. Will any of you be watching?
Goopster24
The book is great as it goes in-depth about the town and the true passion and insanity it has over football. A must read.

The movie didn't quite get it to the same depth as the book, but I guess that can be said about all books-turned-to-movies.

broncosn05
Really awesome movie IMO but pretty much any movie about football would be a good flick IMO....
CarryTheRock
It's all over the papers the last week that it's going to be filmed "in and around" here in Austin. With the show on a weekly basis I could see each episode representing a week throughout the season of the Panthers It was funny seeing the movie after reading the book. I felt like I know the characters and knew things the movie did not show. Edited June 23, 2006 by CarryTheRock
PEDRO
I agree. The movie didn't quite get it to the same depth as the book, but I guess that can be said about all books-turned-to-movies. I just finished reading the book. I really enjoyed it. I had seen the movie first, so I found myself comparing the two and thinking of the actors as the characters in the book. I really liked the movie also. I agree it didn't have the same depth, but I think the artistic/entertainment license they took with it didn't substantially deviate from the basis of the story of the season and the town. If they had followed the book dead on I think it would have seemed too much like a documentary.
