He's in 4th and I don't think anyone in our contest even has him... I'll wait to update this one until someone wins it. I'm not thinking that anyone is really following this very closely. muck
The Main Event is coming ... and there are a half a dozen other smaller buyin hold-em tourneys that are going to be going on during the final week of the main event. Something tells me that the winner of our little contest will be driven by someone that gets busted early in the Main Event but does VERY well in one of these 'after thought' tourneys. Just a hunch. Thing is, I've heard it's not an act when it comes to Helmuth. I guess the correct word I was looking for was respect. I don't feel he is a guy, no matter how good of a tourney NL player he is, that deserves anyone's respect outside of being a good NL tourney player. How is it good for the game to berate other players? He's been doing since before poker was this popular. He may play up to it, but it's still who he is. Big Country
Just curious - what does everyone think of "Kid Poker" (Daniel Negreanu)? I find his act getting kinda' tired myself, he seems to love the camera a little too much. I'm not sure how much of it is him liking the camera and how much of it is the camera liking him. He has a very outgoing personality which plays well to the camera, has a fun presence at the table (aka personality), something as noted in the Hellmuth discussions that many players lack, and he has results to back it up (I don't recall any player in recent history having a year like he did in 2004). All that plays into someone the media would be interested in. He is also good at communicating in depth poker thoughts, which makes him attractive to the poker shows as he gets ideas across well. If only he weren't Canadian

How is it good for the game to berate other players? He's been doing since before poker was this popular. He may play up to it, but it's still who he is. I just find him amusing- and entertaining. B/c let's face it- most of the pros are dorks that have zero personality- hellmuth is great for tv, and the game in general. So he may go off on someone once in a while- so what, happens at most poker tables anyway. These guys are all used to his shtick, and I am sure with DN, Ivey, etc he is regarded as kind of a Rosie O'Donnell to them since he doesn't sack up and play in any of the big cash games. Has a nice mix of tourney/cash games, biz mixed in and he loves golf! I htink DN is great, and you can tell b/c he seems to be liked by all the pros.
