Easy n Dirty
Seems like standings will change little based on those last two events - couple people probably have Greenstein and Mortensen, that's about it.

muck
I finall found the scoring rules (BC locked the thread) ... for those who want a refresher: Point System: Finish Points Finish Points 1 50 9 16 2 44 10 14 3 40 11 12 4 36 12 10 5 32 13 8 6 28 14 6 7 24 15 4 8 20 16 2 Note: Point values for the $10,000 Main Event and the $50,000 HORSE tournaments will be double. Ranking System: With so many teams having duplicate picks, the ranking system adds even more strategy and fun to the pool. Your point total for any given player will depend on their finish multiplied by the spot you ranked them. EXAMPLE: Say you had John Juanda ranked #4 on your team, and he won the first tournament. You'd get 50 points for the win, multiplied by 17 for his rank for a total of 850 points. The ranking values are as follows: Rank Multiple 1 20 2 19 3 18 4 17 5 16 ... and so on. Events: All WSOP events will count towards the total with these exceptions: Casino Employees Limit Hold'em Senior's No Limit Hold'em Ladies 1/2 Hold'em 1/2 Stud Media Charity No Limit Hold'em

wildcat2334
Holdem, Omaha, Razz, Stud, Eight or Better. Its a rotation game. Sounds like a fun event- I am sure the pros all look forward to the variety after all the hold em
Big Country
Sounds like a fun event- I am sure the pros all look forward to the variety after all the hold em Many of the pros consider this the true test of who the world champ is. Hold Em is a very easy and basic game, thus it's popularity. Lowest common denominator and all. Omaha is a bit more complex, though many consider the preflop play more strategical than Hold Em, and the post flop more luck. Stud is much more of a thinking game as you must be able to keep track of not only your cards, but the boards of the other players plus what was folded by all of them to be able to calculate proper odds. Takes a lot more skill to be good at stud variants than hold em variants because of the requirement to remember so much more. I love stud, but hardly get to play it because everyone is in to hold em these days. Harrah's nearly scrapped the HORSE event this year, but so many pros complained that they added it back in and even put together an advisory committee of some pros to help them determine the proper schedule for the event. Pros wanted less hold em and more of the other events to make it a true seris of poker, Harrahs wanted as much Hold Em as possible as it is the flavor of the month and those events draw more entries, thus more in the pockets of Harrahs. IMO, the 50K buy in will make this event an extremely good test of who really is on top of their game pokerwise. Only drawback is, according to the last report I saw, Harrahs has it set up so that all of the prelim action is HORSE, which means limit games, but once it gets to the final table, it becomes No Limit Hold Em.... they were afraid the poker viewing public could not keep up with the changing games and as noted from last years coverage, stud, etc. don't make for as compelling of TV as Hold Em can. Big Country
I've never played RAZZ ... what's the game? It is seven card stud played for low hand. I believe in Razz, straights and flushes do count, so the best low hand is A2346 (someone correct me if I am wrong, thus making a wheel A2345 the lowest possible hand). In razz there is no qualifier for low like there are in the split pot games, so many times an 8 or 9 low is a fairly good hand.
muck
John Phan is one of the final two in the $1000 hold-em tourney...he has about 30% of the chip leader, though. Edited July 13, 2006 by muck

Easy n Dirty
Interesting comment from the blog of Matt Matros, a young poker pro: "And of course, I've already experienced first-hand the cardboard cutouts that pass for official WSOP playing cards. In case you've missed it, the poor quality of the cards has caused quite a stir in the HORSE event. To no one's surprise, my friend Andy Bloch is the one sticking up for the players, and he's already got himself a penalty for his efforts. What a great game we play, huh?"
