Big Country
Who made that dumb rule? Well, stud does not play well as a no-limit event, and 3 of the 5 events are stud based, and Omaha is generally a limit or pot limit event, not no-limit. Hold Em is the only game that can generally be found in a no limit format. But, to appease the simple minded TV audience, the final table will be strictly a no-limit hold em table. muck
What's the "E"? Holdem Omaha Razz Stud E_____ Euchre? Edited July 14, 2006 by muck
Big Country
The E stands for Eight or Better, which is seven stud hi-lo, however, to qualify for low, you must have 5 cards below an 8. SO, some spots are split, some are high only if no one has a qualifying low

Big Country
Omaha hi-lo is typically played with the same constrint on the low. Is the "E" definitely for stud hi-lo and not Omaha hi-lo? Fairly positive the E is for the stud variant and not the Omaha variant, but not 100% certain. I really enjoy Omaha hi-lo... it is almost exclusively played eight or better, stud hi-lo sometimes is, sometimes isn't.

Onaha Hi-Lo is a game you can make alot of money at if you are good at it. Alot of people play it for the action, but most don't have a grasp of correct strategies (me included.) Alot of people play it for the action, but most don't have a grasp of correct strategies (me included.) It is a game where the skilled player has a HUGH advantage, greater than just about any other game out there, because the preflop decisions are so critical, however, the post flop action can have a larer luck affect (not that there isn't a lot of luck in Hold EM, just with 4 cards to work with, getting lucky can be a bit easier, even if you can only use two of them)
wildcat2334
HORSE EVENT Wow, marathon session- down to 10. Amazing the 72 year old Doyle has the stamina! Big Country
Other than the stamina factor, I am not at all surprised to see Doyle, Chip and Ivey there. In fact, every one of those guys is a top notch pro. I am kind of pulling for Doyle to get another bracelet... his 11th I believe... especially in this event as most of the pros consider this the most prestigious event to win this year. Oh I agree those 3 are of the best, not discounting Doyle at all. BUT just on the length of the session- I am completely shocked Doyle is there to be honest with you. Long time for a 72 year old to be focused against young guys like Ivey who are used to marathon sessions

Long time for a 72 year old to be focused against young guys like Ivey who are used to marathon sessions Very true.. Doyls has said this himself to, that the current boom with these 2000+ player fields favors the younger players. I would love to have the chance to sit and watch the Big Game one night just to see waht the mood is like and if they have as much fun with the prop bets and whatever it is they must discuss, or if the games take on a more serius tone.
