AtomicCEO
I frickin love this guy. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070731/ap_on_...s_investigation Federal agents with cameras searched the home of U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens amid questions about an oil company official's involvement in a 2000 renovation project that doubled the home's size, law enforcement officials said. Stevens, 83, is under a federal investigation for his connections to Bill Allen, founder of VECO Corp., an Alaska-based oil field services and engineering company that has reaped tens of millions of dollars in federal contracts. Allen was convicted earlier this year of bribing state lawmakers. He also oversaw the renovation of Stevens' home in the ski resort community of Girdwood, contractors involved in the work say. Never in a million years would I have suspected that the guy who insanely shouted down his opponents to avoid a vote on whether oil executives should be under oath when they testified would be on the take. The guy who challenged people to a duel for suggesting that the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge should be considered "wilderness". (He called it "Hell".) And of course... most famously, he referred to the internet as "A series of tubes". This guy rules. I'm sure nothing will come of this investigation. AtomicCEO
The company being investigated for bribing him was his third largest campaign contributor. http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/con...&cycle=2006 His largest contributor? Fox News. That doesn't seem like very good journalistic ethics... It's also funny that as he makes a fool of himself arguing against net neutrality (when he has clearly never seen a web page in his life), his other top contributors are all telcos and big communications companies. bushwacked
The biggest tragedy in this whole thing, is Ted Stevens actually knows how to speak English. Who woulda thunk?
The Irish Doggy
There are few things better in this world than when a corrupt politician gets whats coming to them.
wiegie
And of course... most famously, he referred to the internet as "A series of tubes". I'm thinking he's actually even more famous for his support of the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere".
