We are throwing my buddy a bachelor party around Penn State in October. We are going to the Penn State vs. Wisconsin game Saturday but we need some stuff to do Friday & Saturday night. It is a bachelor party so we would like to hit a strip club or maybe have dancers at the house. Anyone have any ideas or phone numbers of places up there?

If you get in a pinch for suggestions let me know. My brother and sister in laws are both Penn State grads. My BIL was a major partier when he went there and seemed to really know his way around. I went up to visit them a few times but I don't remember the clubs that we saw bands like Hootie and the Blowfish at. Now that info would be around 17 years old and could be out of date but if you get into a pinch I will email them and see what they can suggest.

Plenty of bars and plenty of good lookin' girls around. Never went to the strip clubs when I was there, so I can't help you there. What type of bar(s) are you looking for?

The Rathskeller is a joint with live music, pool and they sell beer by the case... Rolling Rock ponies. Lots of fun, but sort of like a dive. It is at the far end of College St. and will be very crowded on any weekend.

The Lion's Den is OK... didn't go there much when I was at PSU.

G-Man is good for some Happy Hours eats, drink specials etc. A good bar sort of like in the Cheers style... no dancing, but a good place to hang out.

Phyrst Irish Pub good music and dancing located along Beaver Ave. Great Atmosphere. It has live music and billiards to entertain along with some great beers on tap. The bands are what make this bar ..." Small, but a fun place.

Hooters is located on E. College St. and is the typical Hooters place with the waitresses and the wings, etc.

Saloon - The Saloon is a great place any night of the week. Their specialty is the Monkey Boy, a pitcher full of many different liquors and a major flavor of your choice. ..."

Shandygaff Saloon - a very fun place... Small dance area. Lots of beer specials by the pitcher. Plays stuff like Bye, Bye, Ms. America Pie, Paradise by the Dashboard Light...

Brewery is another PSU stable located on Beaver Ave.

Tony's Big Easy - it use to be called the Surf Club, which was a lot of fun, but it is now called Tony's. Looks like a nice place, but since it is new since I was there several years ago I can't say if is a fun place to hang out myself.

Places, addresses and phone numbers. I have mentioned most of the ones I would recommend.

All of these bars are literally about 8 blocks away from each other. Not sure where you are staying, but I would do a bar tour to hit several of the bars and see which one's fit you and your group the best. I spent many fun nights during my day and since I lived in an apartment in that same area or on campus, I always just walked everywhere so I never got in trouble as my stumble wasn't too noticable... Make sure you have a way to walk home or grab a couple of taxis after a night out drinking and eating. :D

Once you drink up a storm and you are hungry... you have to go to "The Diner" a PSU tradition that serves great breakfast all the time and their famous grilled sticky buns. My favorite is the Mount Nittany (grilled sticky with ice cream) It is on the far side of College St.

If you are more in the mood for burgers there is a great place called Babys Burgers & Shakes. Sort of like a Johnny Rockets and a White Castle combined. Tableside jukeboxes, great burgers and shakes. Known for the Wimpy baskets w/ the mini burgers. Located in the middle of the bar area on Garner St. (inbetween College and Beaver).

For Saturday tailgating you need to find one of the two major distributors in the area... Either Nittany Beverage or W R Hickey's to stock up on the beer. In the old days it was easy just to get a few kegs to party with before the game, but too many drunken students, so it is only cans (not sure if bottles are allowed) for tailgating at the parking lots around Beaver Stadium, so just ask the guys what you will need. The biggest difference is on is a Bud distributor and the other is a Miller distributor. Hickey is towards the stadium side and Nittany Beverage is the opposite side. Both are right along College St. but on opposite sides of town.

Penn State has two nice golf courses on campus (Blue and White whatever would you call them) :D So if you are in the mood to shoot some golf and you are not too hung over you may want to take your sticks for the weekend.

I spent the better part of 5 years (undergrad) and 2 more for grad school so I can tell you as much as you may want to know. Let me know if you have more questions on this thread or send me a PM.

If it's women you want you have to go outside town a little bit. There's a place called The End Zone about 10-15 minutes ride from town. Only strip club I know now that Cadillac Alley is shut down. Pennsylvania has funky laws about boobies. If they sell alcohol the women have to wear pasties. If they don't sell booze, then full nudity is acceptable. The End Zone doesn't sell beer, but I do believe they give it away free on the back porch. Hey, I didn't make the rules.

BTW, PSULions gave a great rundown of the local bars in the downtown area but there's litterally about twice that number down there. A little bit farther out there's Champs - best wings and best bloody marys in town. Also there's now a brewpub named Otto's, food and beer are both pretty damned good. The Big Easy is a martini bar for whatever that's worth. There's also Cafe 210 and the Sportszone on College Ave. A pub crawl is very easily organized down there.

For food the Deli is just above the Saloon and they do really good sammiches. Spats is a pretty good Cajun restaurant and the Tavern is the best food but kinda frou frou. The Corner is over hyped, but easy to find.

Let me know if I've missed anything.
