Bengal Mania
Fairfield Glade Tennessee one round Fri two on Saturday one on Sunday and head back home. Nice courses there (been there a couple times on vacation). should be fun. Anybody have any fun betting games (other than the usuals) that work across a range of handicaps? this part didn't get organized, so we're trying to improvise something on the fly. Skippy
What we do on our little trips is play a Schamble. The idea is that you all hit a drive and then play your own ball from the best ball in. We pay for the best drive, (1.00) and pay for the lowest score, (another 1.00). Two tie all tie and the money is carried over to the next hole. We only play this after we play our first 18. We normally do this for a replay 9. During the first 18 we will play rotating teams. You get one guy for 6 holes then the next guy for 6 holes then the last guy for the last 6. You can play that for actual score or high low or any combination you like. edit to add: Most of all have fun. I wish that I could be there with you guys. Seattle LawDawg
Sounds cool. I'm headed to Phoenix Wednesday for 6 days of golf as well. Then later in the month, 4 days at Bandon Dunes! There are so many games to play, but Skippy's sound like good ideas. Keep them simple or by the end of the round, no one will remember or understand the rules. BillyBalata
All depends on how many golfers playing. Someone introduced our group to the Schamble idea this past summer. A lot of fun. Depending on the amount of players, could have blind draws for partners, use best score each hole, best of the 2, 3 or 4some. Best two scores etc. Another new one we played once this summer, don't know exactly what it was called. But each golfer takes par for the course, adds his handicap number to it. Ex, par 72, add your handicap, 12=84. Then each golfer gets a flag, where ever your ball ends up on that (in this case) 84th shot, you put your flag in the ground. Whoever places their flag the farthest wins. You can count least putts. Drives in fairways, GIRs...
Atlanta Cracker
The best golf game for a trip like this is a 2-man scramble with shotgulligans. This is typically what we play in our afternoon - less serious rounds. Bascially 2 man teams (each cart) v/s the other 2 you are playing with and some reasonable attempt at matching high/low handicap players together so that you don't have 2 scratch golfers playing 2 hacks. Scramble format for each team (everyone shoots from the better of the two previous shots on your team). You can either play total score or match play - both have their merits. This alone is incredibly fun. The kicker comes with the shotgulligans, where if you want another shot (aka mulligan) all you have to do is shotgun a beer - immediately before taking that second shot. frenzal rhomb
Have fun - leaving for Myrtle Saturday. Seven rounds in seven days - part of the fun was supposed to be Mets games in the evening.
gilthorp
Enjoy your trip... Wolf is fun. It's a modified rotation, but strokes given have to be determined before the round. The "wolf" rotates as the first person to hit off the tee. He calls his partner after each person hits their shot, but he can't wait until they've all hit. If he wants the second guy as his partner, he has to call it after that person teed off and before the 3rd guy has. If the wolf wants to pig the hole, he can take on all three guys by himself. Usually a low ball, low total, GIR, sandy...but if the wolf goes on his own, it's all about low ball. You usually see the wolf come out on Par 3's when you knock it in birdie range, or you'll see the wolf if there are 3 crappy drives after the first.
