McBoog
I thought Jordin Sparks rendition was the best since Whitney Houston's amazing performance. No improv, just singing a very hard song (musically it is challenging to sing well) beautifully!
tonorator
methinks she lip synched ...

Hat Trick
methinks she lip synched ... Hard to tell, but it sure seemed like it to me too.
budlitebrad
It had to be lip synched.
Sturphy
It's all prerecorded guys. 100%. Same goes for Petty. They can't risk someone getting a "... vote ____!" in at the end. It's also about control and delivering a quality product.
Chargerz
Prerecorded or not, I thought she did a nice job!
Sturphy
Prerecorded or not, I thought she did a nice job! Yes, it was quite good. Didn't mean to diminish that btw.
tonorator
Same goes for Petty. this is not true. the anthem for the super bowl is usually lip synched, but not the half time show. eta: at least not for real musical acts who do a half time show Edited February 4, 2008 by tonorator

No one from the NFL is going to stand up today and say: "Yes, all our artists lip sync". Not after Vanilli-gate. Again, it's about control in a crazy environment. That and delivering a quality product. Doesn't diminish Petty in my eyes one bit. Everyone does it at the Superbowl these days.
budlitebrad
Doesn't diminish Petty in my eyes one bit. +1 I think everyone knows that they are capable of performing that well without lip syching.
Swiss Cheezhead
Very solid version of the song, but it was definitely lip-synched, and I hated the background music. Give me au naturale, a capella singing every time -- even if a couple of notes are "pitchy."
Randall
Sorry I missed it, the pre game show, halftime (switched off when I saw the heart shaped stage outline and arrow) and post game. For once I decided to watch only the football portion of the game.

ETA: Congrats on Smackbowl dominance btw! Edited February 4, 2008 by Sturphy
