2008 WSOP Fantasy Pool

For any of you who are interested, here is the sign up thread for the 2008 WSOP Fantasy Pool. Deadline for submitting a roster is 10 am PST Friday May 30th. (The first event starts at noon)

Objective: Pick any 20 poker players you wish and rank them from #1 to #20. Each time one of your selected players makes the final 16 in a tournament (see note below), he/she will receive a point value based on his/or her finish. You can only enter one team.

Note: If a tournament pays LESS than 16 places, only the players who made the money will receive points.

Point System:

 Finish Points Finish Points 1 50 9 16 2 44 10 14 3 40 11 12 4 36 12 10 5 32 13 8 6 28 14 6 7 24 15 4 8 20 16 2

Note: Point values for the 10 Championship Events that we include (Events 1, 8, 14, 25, 30, 33, 37, 45, 50, 54) are doubled (Seniors and Ladies Event are not included). For the Heads up Championship Event, any players eliminated in the same round receive the average points for that round(i.e., all players eliminated in the round of 16 receive 18 points (average is 9, doubled is 18), all players eliminated in round of 8 receive 52 points, the players eliminated in the round of 4 receive 76 points, 1st and 2nd get 100 and 88 points respectively)

Ranking System: With so many teams having duplicate picks, the ranking system adds even more strategy and fun to the pool. Your point total for any given player will depend on their finish multiplied by the spot you ranked them.

EXAMPLE: Say you had John Juanda ranked #4 on your team, and he won the first tournament. You'd get 50 points for the win, multiplied by 17 for his rank for a total of 850 points.

The ranking values are as follows:

  Rank Multiple	Rank Multiple 1 20 11 10 2 19 12 9 3 18 13 8 4 17 14 7 5 16 15 6 6 15 16 5 7 14 17 4 8 13 18 3 9 12 19 2 10 11 20 1

Events: All open WSOP events will count towards the total with these exceptions:

Ladies No-Limit Hold Em (Event 15)

Senior's No Limit Hold'em (Event 42)

Ante Up for Africa Charity No Limit Hold'em

Casino Employees No Limit Hold Em (Event 55)

Any scheduled satellite event and any second chance events that run during the main event also do not count.

Please submit your team in the following manner (Please do your best to spell the names correctly, do not use nicknames, I will do my best to double check all entries, but spelling is important to help me try automate the scoring) :

Last year I did a full roto WSOP league with a draft, add/drops, the works. This year I'm just too lazy to do it, since all the scores had to be done by hand, scouring over the results to find names and cashes. What a pain that was.

Thanks for running this again, BC. . .looking forward to it. Good luck all.

First event is the $10K Pot Limit Hold Em Championship. Kicks off in about an hour.

As the ocmputer that I had last years pool on crashed, I apparently have lost my template. I'll do another search of my backup drive, otherwise I will work to get a new one built this weekend, family and children permitting.

Good luck to all.

Weren't we the top three last year, too (by quite a bit, iirc)?

I just had a thought for an interesting event ...

The $25,000 Marathon ... may be a HORSE event ... one hour levels with a 20 minute break between levels ... keep going without stopping (other than the 20 minute break between levels) until one person is left standing (you get 18 levels in a 24hr period) ... probably a 36-48hr event, depending on the number of participants ... possibly played after the final table has been set for the Main Event and after everyone is completely wiped out from a long month of poker ...

I think its pretty clear looking at these standings that BBP cheated.

Update?

I'll try get something out in the next few days. Been pulling 12 + hour days at work. With only 4 events over so far (as of earlier this morning) we've just scratched the surface.

But, it is nice that I had the winner (Lindgren) nad runner up (Bonomo) of event #4 in my top 5. (patsselfonback)
