Azazello1313
a whole slew of articles linked on the drudge report today abour pirates... HONG KONG CARGO SHIP HIJACKED BY PIRATES... Iranian-operated cargo ship hijacked off Somalia... Danish oil ship briefly seized off Nigeria... PIRATES CAPTURE SUPERTANKER WITH $100 MILLION CARGO... US Admiral 'stunned' by pirates' reach... pretty interesting, because just last week I was watching some show on the history channel about modern pirates and how difficult it is to do much about them. I'd like to see that show. When I hear this I think of a bunch of half-starved guys in dingy's with AK-47s. One would think a couple of high mounted HMGs would take them out. One would think a couple of high mounted HMGs would take them out. The problem is, the backward attitude about guns makes it so difficult for them to mount browning .50's on the rail. As always, gun control only affects those that are law abiding.

cre8tiff
I'd like to see some news stories about those that get wasted, myself. "Twenty dumb-ass pirates riddled with rounds from Apache gunship" "12 pirates die when dingy explodes." "Sharks leave little of ill-advised pirates." You know, that sort of thing. Never hear about the unsuccessful ones.

cre8tiff
hey, I like it. "the smoking gun presents......the world's dumbest pirates" After watching the video I am left with two thoughts: 1. That LRAD is pretty impressive 2. Forget the machine guns. A sniper or two would be enough to dissuade these dumbasses. Seems prime picking for a merc. One man with a rifle (with a cartrige like a 7-mag or .30-'06 that's capable of reaching out 600 yards plus) would make life very miserable for 1/2-dozen of these scumbags in a 20-footer. Let 'em get in to 200 yards or so and start picking them off. Pick off the driver each time and they'd never get out of your range in time. cre8tiff
well you got it!!! Indian navy sinks suspected pirate "mother" ship http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081119/ap_on_...r_tMLEId.IV6w8F In its clash with the pirate vessel, the Tabar's crew hailed the ship and demanded it stop for inspection, the pirates threatened to destroy the Indian ship, the ministry reported. "Pirates were seen roaming on the upper deck of this vessel with guns and rocket-propelled grenade launchers. The vessel continued its threatening calls and subsequently fired upon INS Tabar," the ministry said. The Indian frigate returned fire, setting the pirate ship ablaze and setting off explosions on board, the statement said. Two speedboats in tow behind the ship fled; one was found abandoned after a pursuit by the Tabar. Pirate #1: "They are a military vessel. Look at those weapons." Pirate Captain: "We will blow them out of the water!" Pirate #1: "They appear to be heavily armored, too. What is that plating on thier sides?" Pirates (brandishing grenade launchers): "We have grenades! We will assault thier puny steel sides with them!" Pirate #1: " I think I left my ammunition in the escape boat, I must go get it." Pirate Captain: "Fire, FIre, kill the interlopers!" Indian Navy: Edit to Add: Blackwater offering protection... One private security company, Blackwater Worldwide, is offering to provide security services. The North Carolina-based firm, which scored big government contracts to provide security in Iraq, says it plans to dispatch the MV McArthur, a 183-foot vessel with a crew of 14 and a helicopter pad, to the Gulf of Aden to provide escort services. "We have been contacted by ship owners who say they need our help in making sure ... goods get to their destination safely," Bill Matthews, Blackwater executive vice president, said recently in a news release. "The McArthur can help us accomplish that." I think I am beginning to see a future for US domination. Protection services...
