Missoula Griz
On a scale of 1 being very little pressure to 10 being extreme pressure. I have been gripping my club so hard my right hand hurts. I am having a hard time turning over.
wildcat2334
loosen up - you should be at a 5 or so
whoopazz
I'm no pro by any means, but if you are anywhere near 5, you are doomed. Should be a relaxed grip...no ripping. The distance will come from contact and follow through.
Big Country
So are you really talking about golf clubs, or um.. is this a euphemism for something else.

Donutrun Jellies
Like you're holding a baby bird ... firm enough so it doesn't jump out, not tight enough to hurt the little one ...
bpwallace49
Just enough to NOT have the club fly out of your grip for most shots. That is why the recommend new grips . . . so you DONT over grip the club when you swing.
BillyBalata
Sometimes it depends on how my last few shots have went.

Double Agent
Are you a lefty or a righty? And where exactly does your hand hurt? I'm guessing this is a fundamental grip (as in hand posture) issue more than grip pressure. I grip hard on a lot of shots (out or thick rough for example) and I never have my hands hurt. Maybe it's because I don't do it consistently. But if you have a certain area of your hand affected, I would have someone look at the way you grip your club. It can happen to the best of us. My uncle is a 2 hci and began having grip issues last year. Don't know why we pick up bad habits in golf.
