Menudo
I'm in Greenville, MS for business until Wednesday, and the company booked me at Harlow's Casino & Resort. Thank God they booked me at a casino, because from the looks of things, there isn't anywhere else to go here. No disrespect to anyone who might live here, and maybe I haven't seen the nice parts, but, from what I've seen so far, you couldn't pay me enough to live here. Anyway, I'm sure that the big gamblers could clue me in on whether this is just a coincidence or not, but, I always seem to do well when I play Blackjack at smaller casinos. I won $ 600 one night on my honeymoon cruise ship ten years ago, I hit for $800 on a small riverboat in New Orleans several years ago, and I won some decent money a few weeks ago at a riverboat casino outside of Chicago, like $250 or something. These are all playing low-money tables ($5 or $10). Here at this casino, they have a combination blackjack + 3 card poker. You can bet on your blackjack hand, plus the 3 card poker hand, which is your two cards and the dealers up card. It pays 9 to 1 on 3 of a kind, flush, straight, or straight flush. I hit for $160 last night in about 30 minutes and hit for $400 tonight in less than an hour. A lot of the winnings came from the 3 card poker. I know $400 isn't anything to go crazy about, but, I'm feeling pretty good right now. Back to my original point, I've gone to Atlantic City several times, and it seems like I just can't win. I might go on a small run, but, in the end, I usually lose a couple of hundred on Blackjack. I feel like I'm a solid blackjack player, but, I usually come away down. So, do any of the gamblers have an opinion on whether what I'm experiencing is simply coincidence, or do you somehow have less of a chance at the bigger casinos like AC & Vegas ? Big Country
Variance (assuming you are playing the same balckjack variant) ie 6-shoe vs. single-deck, 3 to 2 on blackjack and are excluding the 3-card/royal bonus payouts from your analysis Edited July 7, 2009 by Big Country
Menudo
Couldn't sleep....went downstairs and played for another hour, and won another $200 I'm sure I'm just on a lucky streak, but, the 9 to 1 odds on 3 card poker seems to good to be true. rajncajn
A business trip to Greenville?
Menudo
A business trip to Greenville? It's where Uncle Ben's rice is made. I work for M&M Mars, and it is one of our products. However, I do understand why you are laughing, as I think we are the only business in town. When you go to the airport, it says "Welcome to Greenville, the home of Uncle Ben's Rice" Last year, we had two sites in Chicago go live with my project. This year, the sites are Hackettstown NJ, Cleveland TN, & Greenville, MS....of course, I'm assigned to Greenville for the four weeks when we go-live. rajncajn
Not only are you in the middle of nothing, but you're at least two hours away from anything you might consider civilization. At least you can say you spent some time in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Beautiful country if you have the time to go see it. Here ya go, if you want to see some of the sights. I'd recommend finding some locals & asking where to eat. I hear the tamales mentioned on tis web site are awesome & were featured on one of the Food Network shows. http://www.visitthedelta.com/communities/greenville/ Edited July 7, 2009 by rajncajn

i_am_the_swammi
I'd recommend finding some locals & asking where NOT to eat. Fixed for gastrointestinal safety. Oh, and congrats on your nice "overtime" pay....sounds like your follow-up visit in the coming months could be fruitful. But don't jinx yourself...if I remember correctly, you posted on here a year or so ago about how well you were doing on Bodog....and I haven't seen you on there since
