Ursa Majoris
Dude, you should probably not take the UK gutter press so seriously. Without reading beyond paragraph three, let me offer an observation and possible solution. I've noticed that the older cars and other complex systems get, the more maintenance they need, generally speaking. Certainly it is wise to budget (but not necessarily spend) more in case of larger expenses. Given that the increase is in the order of 10%, is it reasonable to assume that the budget is there to guard against increased maintenance need? Yep, either that or Obama talks out of both sides of his mouth and occasionally out of his ass. I'm sure it is what you said.
driveby
A day after bashing lobbyists, President Barack Obama’s administration has invited K Street insiders to join private briefings on a range of topics addressed in Wednesday’s State of the Union. A handful of lobbyists told The Hill on Thursday morning that they received the invitations and were planning to call in. Some lobbyists say they are extremely frustrated with the White House for criticizing them and then seeking their feedback. Others note that Democrats on Capitol Hill constantly urge them to make political donations. One lobbyist said, “Bash lobbyists, then reach out to us. Bash lobbyists [while] I have received four Democratic invitations for fundraisers.” In his State of the Union on Wednesday, Obama once again targeted K Street: “We face a deficit of trust — deep and corrosive doubts about how Washington works that have been growing for years. To close that credibility gap, we have to take action on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue — to end the outsized influence of lobbyists; to do our work openly; to give our people the government they deserve.” Maybe he just needs to explain this policy to us better. bpwallace49
So lets recap . . . Obama bashes lobbyists, but some Dems still ask for donations. Newsflash fellas . . . Obama does not personally run every single Dem campaign. Secondly, did you guys even think this through?!?!?!?!? What was the theme of the SOTU address? Was it jobs and job creation? Who does these lobbyists respresnt? Hmm . . maybe businesses that he needs to discuss JOB CREATION WITH?!?!? Or did you just want all the jobs created to be in gubment, increasing the size and scope of the "federal teat"? In his budget to be announced on Monday, Mr Obama has allocated £4.3billion to maintain the U.S. arsenal - £370million more than George Bush spent on nuclear weapons in his final year. The Obama administration also plans to spend a further £3.1billion over the next five years on nuclear security. So Obama is maintaining what we currently have, and wants to increase security to safeguard our arsenal. Yep . . . he REALLY needs to be attacked for this stuff . . Come on fellas . . . you are better than this.
